The Product Quality Engineer applies a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside the primary area of expertise toward the development of new or enhanced products. The Quality Engineer will lead from a technical quality perspective to support product development, design change control and verification/validation activities. This position requires a functional understanding of FDA, ISO and Client Quality systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with global quality systems and Regulatory requirements related to product and process Design Control, risk analysis, investigations, and CAPAs
Support the sustainability and life cycle management of an existing product
Perform design change control activities including impact assessments, reviews, and approvals
Provide Quality Assurance support and guidance for verification and validation of product requirements
Support risk management activities as they relate to post market surveillance
Use statistical trending tools to monitor product complaint trends
Take lead role in CAPA activities such as investigation, implementation, or verification of effectiveness
Develop and participate in the development of solutions to problems specific to assigned project
Interact with off-shore suppliers to complete project related activities
Independently plan, schedule and lead cross-functional team in detailed phases of the Quality work in a project
Maintain a high level of expertise in current regulatory requirements
Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications for this Role:
Must have experience or advanced training and demonstrate proficiency in statistical methods
Completely proficient in relevant products or process development processes
Strong interpersonal/communication/influencing/negotiation skills
Good project management skills
Extensive cross-functional team experience, including technical and non-technical work
Ability to diagnose problems and recommend solutions in assigned project
Duties may require work outside regular business hours

Education and Experience
Bachelors of Science degree in Engineering (discipline: electrical / mechanical / biomedical)
4-8 years recent relevant experience in the medical device industry.
Previous experience working with Electronmechanical IV pumps or syringe pumps, preferred.
Demonstrated success in delivering results on technical/product/Quality challenges
Experience in design control and strong knowledge of DHF and configuration management
Working knowledge of medical device international standards
Working knowledge of problem solving and statistical methods as applied to process and product quality preferred
Product development experience pertaining to electromechanical devices preferred
Software: Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups), Minitab, Word, PowerPoint, Trackwise 8 (change control / compliant), & TCU

Interview Platform: phone followed by onsite interviews (30 minutes each individual interviewer)

Position Overview As a key team member within the Infusion Systems Device Engineering team you are responsible for creating and implementing innovative electrical design solutions for Baxter's infusion pumps to address customer needs. Critical Responsibilities o Provide input into generating design inputs specifications. o Design and develop complex electrical circuits and assemblies for new medical device product development. o Identify creative solutions to complex electrical problems and define and execute plans to rapidly assess and optimize designs. o Use appropriate analytical methods to assess designs such as stress analysis, timing analysis, worst-case analysis, circuit simulation and other common electrical engineering methods. o Operate independently, with latitude for independent judgment with some supervision while providing high quality output. o Create device hardware specifications based on customer / user requirements o Develop relevant fixtures, gauges and equipment used in device manufacturing and test processes. o Plan, execute and document testing and test results. o Participate in design reviews. o Review designs and drawings against: general standards, design requirements and manufacturing best practices. o Develop statistically valid tests to verify designs meet product requirements. o Generate design and test documentation that meets company, FDA, ISO and IPC requirements. o Organize and present technical and project status overviews with minimal assistance. o Perform other related product design and development duties as assigned by supervisor. o Collaborate effectively with mechanical and software engineers Qualifications Key Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills o B.S. in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years of experience in the design, development and testing of electronic devices. Experience with electromechanical and/or medical devices is preferred. o Experience in design and implementation of circuits and PCB assemblies. o Experience developing electromechanical products and creating design documentation per FDA and ISO medical device product development process requirements. o Experience developing circuit schematics using Altium, or equivalent. o Experience creating PCBA layouts to meet ISO standards (e.g. radiation, immunity) is preferred, but not required. o Experience using engineering statistical methods to aid in the development decision process. o Demonstrated root cause analysis and problem solving skills. o Cross-functional team experience, including technical and non-technical work. o Must be self-motivated, have good interpersonal skills, capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
