Job Title: Sr. Quality Engineer

Location: Cleveland, OH

Purpose of Position:

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer specializing in Quality and Ballistic Manufacturing to join our team. This role will involve leading the improvement and strengthening of our manufacturing and quality processes related to ballistic materials. This position will report to the Director of Quality of the Head Protection SBU, and will be a key role on the Quality Team.

Essential Duties and/or Functions:

  • Provide direction, leadership and supervisory oversight of Quality Engineers, Inspectors and Technicians -Bldg-5 (Direct Reports).

  • Responsible for Quality planning activities for supporting new and current product service offerings with emphasis on Ballistic Manufacturing, Process Review, Quality Control, Auditing, Testing and Data Review for DOD/Commercial products.

  • Provide necessary support and Data KPI reporting for Quality Ballistic Manufacturing for Tier 2, Tier 3 and Management Review.

  • Cross-functionally coordinate with R&D, Operations, Manufacturing, Production, Purchasing and all stakeholders in supporting quality interactions across the business supporting best practices, effective communication, alignment and execution of actions.

  • Oversee Corrective action process for CAR reporting mainly Ballistic Manufacturing- Bldg.5, update CAR logs and evidence gathering

  • Provide project support of Ballistic Range, Testing requirements and data collection (Tulip) (IFS) and reporting. for contract requirements.

  • Assist in ensuring Inspection, FAT, sampling plans, including Quality control plans are implemented and supported for all products.

  • Develop test methods and related procedures, quality alerts, signage and visual aids to improve overall effectiveness of processes and performance.

  • Conduct and/or oversee internal audits as lead auditor, scheduling and leading internal audits, audit reporting and closure.

  • Support Quality / Engineering FMEA requirements ensuring product requirements are met, determining risks, and identifying product

  • Conduct quality training, on-boarding and all ISO related process training as required.

  • Maintain test records (electronic and hard copy) for easy retrieval.

  • Perform detailed data analysis and prepare reports.

  • Support customer-specific requests including, but not limited to, testing, product certs (COC) and related test data.

  • 10-20% travel may be required to support business and or projects related to Unity / Osprey.

  • Additional duties as assigned and or needed to support the business.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 Years experience working in the capacity as SQE or may be based on experience and engineering acumen. (Must Have)

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Biomed or Chemistry Engineering.

  • ASQ CQE certification or equivalent experience

  • Proven experience and knowledge of ISO-9001 Quality Management Standards

  • Proficient in measurement, inspection and testing methods including experience with Gage R&R, Capability and Performance.

  • Knowledgeable statistical analysis, using Minitab, SPC, Excel, Pivot Tables etc.

  • Process auditing experience-ISO 9001-2015 Lead Auditor

  • Experience with structured problem-solving techniques.

  • Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Extensive use of Microsoft word and excel is required.

  • Ability to lead without authority. Must have the maturity and discipline to manage conflict and see big picture).

  • Visibility and engagement both Bldg-1, Bldg-5 supporting production in identifying areas of improvement, workmanship applying good documentation practices with the ability to drive quality awareness across modalities, departments, and plants.

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Cleveland, OH is $85,000to $98,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, type and years of experience within the industry, education, etc.
