This is a multi-level position that can be a salary grade G08 or G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and education required of this position.

Job Description:

Land Warfare product line has opening for Quality Engineer who will provide support to procurement, production and development activities including the following:

  • Support of Production activities including coordination with factories

  • Support engineering development actives to provide enhancements to current product configuration including design reviews and engineering hardware builds.

  • Analyze product performance using statistical methods to understand root cause, identify significant variances to predicted/targeted values.

  • Perform analyses of nonconformities to characterize causes as routine (common) or exceptional (special), and develop effective containment and elimination plans.

  • Assure clear identification, physical control and competent disposition of nonconformities.

  • Facilitate corrective actions, closed loop process controls and continuous improvement methods to improve product/process predictability and capability.

  • Participate in Program Reviews, Supplier Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, design reviews, process change reviews, qualification test reviews, and TE verification and validation reviews.

  • Analyze and approve proposed engineering, planning changes, test plans, and procedures .

  • Support Consent To Ship of FTB and Development test hardware in support of program deliverables.

  • Coordinate / publish metrics for Corrective Action Board.

  • Understand and address complexities, challenges of using COTS hardware and subassemblies

  • Integrate performance and conformance verifications such as First Articles and audits throughout value stream processes to prevent quality escapes, optimize throughput and assure on-time delivery of products and services

  • Manage the interface and sell-off of products to downstream operations or end-item customer quality representatives

  • Provide guidance to Engineering on Material Review Board (MRB) dispositions

Required Skills:

  • Four (4) years of related Quality Engineering experience

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional process improvement teams

  • Competency in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques

  • Ability to develop and implement robust process controls

  • Ability to technically interface with various engineering disciplines

  • Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment

  • Ability to act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of operational programs

  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications

  • Knowledge of descriptive statistics and statistical control methodologies

  • Ability to comprehend and translate external and internal requirements into effective work instructions for various internal functions

  • Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

  • Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)

  • Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with Land Warfare Systems upper management and customers

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Level 5 Mission Assurance Certification (Internal candidates)

  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping

  • Experienced in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis

  • Knowledge of Measurement System Analysis and Design of Experiments

  • Knowledge of Performance Specification and Requirements Management Practices

  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)

  • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications

Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics or similar technical degree

Clearance Requirements:

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
