Job Description

Kite is seeking a highly-motivated individual to join us as a Senior QC Specialist in the Quality Control (QC) Technical Services group. You will work within the Clinical QC organization, and will have cross-functional interaction with personnel from Commercial QC, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and Corporate teams.

In this role, you will have an overall responsibility, among others, of providing technical expertise for the optimization of analytical test methods, supporting method transfer between cross-sites, promoting a culture of quality and compliance and assisting in improving quality metrics within QC.

Responsibilities included (but not limited to):

  • Support lifecycle management of commercial and clinical release methods by evaluating and proposing enhancements to the test methods

  • Support activities related to the transfer and validation of analytical methods from Clinical to Commercial QC, and Commercial QC to external testing sites

  • Assist with deviation, investigation, CAPA and change control activities at Kite Pharma and contract labs, as needed

  • Support inspection readiness activities

  • Develop, revise and review SOPs, protocols and technical reports

  • Participate in generating training module and instruction led training material

  • Responsible for generating trending charts for monitoring method performance, product quality, invalid rate and/or stability

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. with 5+ years or Master with 8+ years of experience in a GMP environment

  • Experience in a number of analytical techniques, including but not limited to, Flow Cytometry, Real Time PCR, ELISA, Cell Viability measurement, etc. Familiarity with ddPCR will be a plus.

  • Experience in performing analytical method validation and supporting method transfer activities

  • Familiarity with FDA, ICH and GMP guidelines

  • Ability to think critically and demonstrate troubleshooting/problem solving skills

  • Experience in conducting lab investigations, writing deviations, implementing CAPAs and initiating change controls

  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, data analysis software, and other related applications

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential in this collaborative work environment

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced small company environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): * Develop, validate, and transfer (bio)chemical and (bio)physical methods in support of in-house raw materials testing * With minimal supervision, design and execute method development experiments, validations, and tech transfer to both internal and external labs * Lead method troubleshooting and OOS investigations * Author and review technical reports, protocols, and operations/testing SOPs * When required, perform routine testing of incoming raw materials in support of release and troubleshooting efforts * Manage contract testing lab activities that pertain to method development and validation * Perform trending of release test results and method performance parameters * Guide junior staff in daily activities and act as a technical resource for the RM team * Order and maintain lab supplies and consumables * Other duties may be assigned Requirements: The ideal candidate would possess: * B.S. with 11+ years, MS with 9+ yrs, or PhD with 1 – 2 years of experience in a QC or AD environment * At least 5 years of experience in a GMP setting * Experience with (bio)chemical and (bio)physical methods applicable to both inorganic and biological raw materials: pH, osmolality, FT-IR, HPLC, LC-MS, protein identification methods, light obscuration, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, western blot * Experience with microbiological methods is a plus (e.g., sterility, endotoxin, bioburden) * Working knowledge of the applicable FDA, EP, and ICH guidelines * Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously * Experience leading cross-functional teams to meet business needs * Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skill a must Kite is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in the development of innovative cancer immunotherapies with a goal of providing rapid, long-term durable response and eliminating the burden of chronic care.
