Zurich's Risk Engineering Property New England Team is seeking a Sr Risk Engineer with largeproperty highly protected risk (HPR) experience. This is a blended Account Engineeringand field role. The territory is mainly Connecticut, Massachusetts and RhodeIsland. This is a work from home role, ideally positioned within Hartford, CT,however, will consider other locations within the territory. This roleincludes a company car with expected local travel of 50%, with 10% overnighttravel.

Our Sr Risk Engineering Consultant is responsible forproviding:

  • Industry expertrisk assessment services for customers and business partners.

  • Propertyconsultative services to customers, including identifying and helping toresolve exposures with significant loss potential, investigating cause/effectof major losses and evaluating property management programs.

  • Training for customers, service design andcoordination, and mentoring.

  • Providing regularsupport to the Underwriting team

  • Marketing Zurich risktransfer insurance products in conjunction with underwriting professionals andagents across company business segments

Final candidates will be subject to a Motor VehicleRecord background check as this position includes a company car.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree and 6 or more years of experience in the Risk Engineeringarea

OR

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent and 8 or more years of experience in the

Risk Engineering area

AND

  • Experience working in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Fire Science, or relateddegree

  • HPR Property experience

  • Loss control/Risk Engineering experience within theinsurance industry

  • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)

  • Strong communication and consultative skills

  • Outstanding collaborative skills

  • History of working successfully in a team environment

  • High degree of proficiency related to PC and Software orsystems

They will conduct on-site evaluations andprovide Property service and consultation to our clients. In additionthey will also conduct research as well as evaluation and analysis of Propertytechnical topics in order to make recommendations to control customer's sourceof exposure to risk and to minimize loss and/or costs. They will also be atrainer/mentor to our Field Staff on more complex Property Risks. Responsibilityfor the development of internal and external relationships in acquiringprofitable new business and retaining existing profitable business is a keyfundamental skill set for the position. The position will report into the Director of Property andMarine, Risk Engineering Organization. It will have accountability specific tothe deployment of Underwriting and Risk Engineering practices for the PropertyLine of Business, with support to the Marine and International Lines ofBusinesses where applicable. This role will require travel so access to a major airport is required. Hartford or Boston are the preferred locations for this position to be based but will consider any state within the Northeast with easy access to a major airport. Responsibilities: * Support the strategic direction of the Property and Marinelines of business by working closely with the Director of Property and Marine aswell as underwriting in the development and support of the initiatives. * Develop and deliver Risk Engineering products and servicesinclusive of training, collateral materials, technical assistance and supportto both our internal and external partners is a key aspect of this position. * Provide the needed technical guidance to understand andanticipate changes in industry, regulation, appetite and strategic businessneeds. * Act in a business consultative role to our internal andexternal business partners. * Strengthen the level of expertise within the REO in theProperty discipline. Oversee and provide the technical assistance and supportto the Field as well as all internal and external partners * Regularly communicate and collaborate with Marine; Propertyand International business partners to create a strong and crediblerelationship and to support their Property technical needs * Assist in the development and delivery of key traininginitiatives for all of the products and services that the Property businesspartners require * Plan, organize and manage resources to bring about thesuccessful completion of specific project goals and objectives as directed bythe Director of Property and Marine * BA/BS degree in a science or engineering. Experience in insurance or related field is requiredwith a minimum of 10 years related experience. * Certification/designation(s) (i.e.) CFPS, CSP, CIH, CPCU,ARM, PE, CFPS, etc. (at least one is preferred, but is not required) * Superior analytical and problem solving skills. * Ability to work in a fast changing, dynamic environment. Theability to work on multiple tasks and assignments. * Results orientated and high level of accountability. * Motivated, self-starter. Works independently with minimaloversight. * Ability to work confidently with all levels of managementacross organizations including senior executives in Home Office as well as theField.
