Duties & Responsibilities:

Summary:

Work with a world-class R&D team to deliver Viavi's flagship Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (NPMD) and Cybersecurity solutions, Observer Apex, GigaStor, and GigaFlow. The Observer suite of software and hardware products provides best-in-class technologies that help IT teams dramatically accelerate problem identification and remediation for Enterprise application and network issues. In this role you will be responsible for collaborating and coordinating with multiple cross-functional teams and projects to generate valuable business results. You will be in charge of facilitating highly efficient processes and measurements to allow the development teams to focus on execution and the leadership team to focus on leading. You will be a key figure in driving continual improvement and cultivating team culture. Duties/Responsibilities:

• Facilitate cross-functional teams that are focused on delivering product and solutions on a deadline

• Create, manage, and track multiple project schedules with inputs from project leads for both hardware and software products

• Assess risk and ensure appropriate contingencies are in place

• Estimate project costs and help manage a multi-million dollar R&D budget

• Help teams effectively resource plan

• Ensure adherence to Agile development process and corporate best practices

• Communicate status to stakeholders

• Facilitate weekly cross-functional project updates and core business team calls

• Facilitate Product Development Process (PDP) checkpoints and produce pertinent materials

• Own action item tracking and ensure items are done on time and closed out

• Ensure cleanliness and proper usage of project tracking tool - Jira

• Ensure adherence to security and quality best practices

• Track scrum team metrics and implement productivity tracking mechanisms

• Manage the full agile life-cycle of software development

• Manage a local team of developers

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Basic Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Agile development processes and the Atlassian toolset - particularly Jira

• 5+ years of technical program management experience in either software or hardware

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency in the use of PC and programs such as MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams

• Able to articulate and defend decisions through facts and navigate gracefully through difficult discussions

• Passion for scale, efficiency, and continual improvement in overall R&D operations

• Highly organized and detail oriented

• Willingness to travel > 20% of the time - international

• Ability to analyze data to pick out trends or useful insights

Preferred Qualifications:

• Jira REST API or similar experience

• Python or similar scripting ability

• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols and terminology

• Experience as a software developer / engineer
