The Senior Project Manager-Store Design will plan, budget, document and oversee the end-to-end management of assigned store construction projects, including new stores, remodels and small projects (existing stores).
A day in the life.
Partnering with Store Design leaders, design and internal corporate departments to ensure that the scope and direction of each project are validated and captured
Monitor, manage and report on project schedules, costs and risks
Partner with real estate and legal to support the execution of developer contracts and define landlord responsibilities
Lead and motivate a team of external consultants including architects, engineers and specialists to determine the specifications of the project, schedules, create contract documents, submissions, etc. to deliver the project while meeting time, cost and quality expectations
Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure their requirements are being met onsite and manage their expectations
Lead and manage the general contractor to construct the project, manage trades, interface with the developer and local jurisdiction, review bids, control costs and meet time, cost and quality expectations
Review and manage change orders and contract compliance
Conduct meetings on site with the consultants, developer, construction crew and local authorities as needed
Perform site surveys prior to lease negotiations and throughout the project to ensure the Nordstrom standards and expectations are being met
Coordinate with the store team and communicate to them daily and weekly
Resolve any unforeseen conditions with the budget and schedule in mind
Review and approve payment applications and closeout documents
Responsible for a successful overall project delivery on time and on budget

Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, construction management or related field is preferred
Architecture, Engineering, or Project Management certification preferred
10+ years of project management experience in all aspects of design and construction with emphasis in project scope development, budgeting, scheduling, risk management and contract negotiation
Strong leadership skills including the ability to influence, motivate and drive teams
Superior problem-solving skills and ability to find creative solutions against time and cost pressures
Financial and budget management with emphasis in accuracy and attention to detail
Outstanding planning and time management skills with the ability to prioritize competing priorities
Self-motivated including the ability to work independently and in a group as the project requires
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to manage change
Strong team player and the ability to work effectively with others
Forward thinker, proactively looks ahead to avoid potential issues, costs and delays
Experience building, monitoring and controlling schedules and budgets
Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite, project scheduling software, and web based applications
Ability to travel within the U.S.
