Position Purpose

The Project Manager provides project leadership, management and oversight throughout the phases of Echo's solution/software delivery life cycle (SDLC). Project under management will vary depending on size and scope and will entail fully integrated process, organizational, and information technology components. This position requires day-to-day management of project team personnel, communication with key stakeholders and subject matter experts, and hands-on, experience-based delivery leadership. This role will also require direct interaction with a broad range of senior, technical and functional managers and subject matter experts throughout the organization.

General Responsibilities

  • Conduct fact finding sessions with key business and IT staff to assess as-is capabilities, perform root cause analyses, define solution requirements, perform feasibility analyses, and define high-level solution alternatives and approaches

  • Prepare project proposals, business cases, and detailed project plans

  • Provide hands-on project management and actively manage the project plan, deliverables, dependencies, and outcomes for all aspects of the project (including business process, organization, and IT solution components) across all phases of the SDLC.

  • Actively monitor, manage, and communicate key project control dimensions including scope, time, cost, resources, risk, dependencies, procurement, and quality across all phases of the SDLC.

  • Develop and implement change management and communications plans to ensure solution adoption pre-, during-, and post-implementation

  • Ensure the quality and timeliness of all project deliverables

  • Work with executive and senior management to improve overall project delivery and support processes

  • Develop, monitor, and manage project metrics, in particular, metrics associated with benefit capture and overall adoption

Required Qualifications

  • Project Manager experience required of 5-8 years experience

  • Must have some experience managing people or leading teams, either directly or indirectly

  • Exposure to the full SDLC experience in an Agile environment

  • Transportation/supply chain domain experience a plus

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, fluid work environment

  • Self-managed and motivated

  • Ability to follow through with tasks to their completion

  • Very organized and detail-oriented

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

  • Understand P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow basics

Projects will be executed utilizing Foot Locker's Project Methodology based on Agile principles and the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) Standards. The Sr. Project Manager (PM) is also responsible for coaching and mentoring project managers that are reporting directly to the Sr. PM. Task and Schedule Management: The Sr. Project Manager is expected to be able to create written plans to manage and track tasks across multiple initiatives. When planning the work, the Sr. Project Manager must use their technical knowledge, as well as, solicit input from the technical staff, business units and other IS&T support areas to assure the timeframes and expectations are realistic. It is expected that the Sr. Project Manager will develop resource plans necessary to complete projects and work with the Managers to provide those resources. Communication: It is expected that the Sr. Project Manager frequently polls the project team for status of activities, providing that status to IS&T management in a timely and accurate manner, while reviewing the tasks to ensure completeness, validity of results and compliance with Foot Locker Project methodology. Interface with the users to ensure all involved are aware of status and potential issues. Develop a positive partnership with the user community. Any issues that could or will impact the overall project milestones need to be communicated immediately. Accountability: It is required that the associates assigned to project tasks understand what they are to do, what their priorities are and that they are accountable to complete the tasks with a high degree of quality within the timeframes established. Unacceptable levels of performance must be communicated to appropriate management. Ensure that the users you interact with are accountable for their actions and decisions that impact these projects. Leadership: Sr. Project Managers are expected to be a true leader for their project staff and subordinate team. Establish the vision for the project team as it relates to achieving the goals and objectives of the Project Sponsor and the company.
