As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will help manage a portfolio of technologies and projects across a wide variety of technology areas; including propulsion, power, cryogenic fluids, guidance, navigation, control, entry, descent, landing, advanced manufacturing, robotics, structures, and human spaceflight. These technologies will be used in our launch vehicles, spacecraft, in-space propulsion elements, propellant depots, landers, habitats and other surface systems, for both human and robotic systems. You will help align technology development with company strategies, products, and maturation plans.
You should be an expert in project engineering and management, external capture, and technical integration. You should be adept at defining and managing to a plan, comfortable adjusting it in response to evolving requirements or external constraints, and prioritizing efforts all the while infusing and facilitating creativity and innovation. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of advanced technology development and infusion. Your contributions will directly impact the history of space exploration, and your dedicated commitment and attention to detail will further the cause of safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Collaborate with many internal and external stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and schedule needs associated with developing technology maturation plans
Develop project plans, budgets, and schedules, both from internally derived goals and constraints and from customer contracts and statements-of-work
Manage technical tasking, schedule, resources, cost and reporting, including risks, variances and recovery plans
Support proposal strategy and development
Lead team-based identification, decomposition, and estimation of work scope for maturing technologies for infusion into products and flagship programs
Minimum of a M.S. degree in Engineering with exposure to research environments
10 years of industry experience including technology maturation of aerospace or equivalent type systems and 5+ years in progressive project management
Experience managing small multi-disciplinary development teams on fast pace projects
Experience working with U.S. Government research agencies (e.g. NASA, AFRL, DARPA)
Demonstrated experience in the full proposal lifecycle of small to medium proposals, including capture, negotiation, execution, and close-out. Experience with technical/management volumes, task description/basisofestimate development, etc.
Experience managing project requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, resources, cost and reporting
Demonstrated experience in a relevant engineering product domain with preference to spacecraft, launch vehicles, or high-performance aircraft
Demonstrated technical depth in one or more of the following areas: human spaceflight, propulsion, fluid/thermal/mechanical systems, structures, avionics, manufacturing, guidance, navigation, and control, and/or materials
Experience with logic-linked scheduling and cost-account management, risk management, and configuration management
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Experience with space flight hardware, flight software, an/or human spaceflight
PMP credential or equivalent
Familiar with FAR and TINA compliant proposals and contracts
Experience across multiple portions of the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through field support)
Familiarity with standard version control tools (e.g. git/gitlab, mercurial, subversion), collaboration tools (such as Confluence and JIRA), and requirements, data management software (DOORS, Windchill)
