GD-OTS is looking for an experienced Sr. Project Engineer to join our Lincoln, NE organization. We are expanding rapidly and looking for motivated and creative individuals who want to help support and shape this organization as we grow.

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for technical, schedule and cost execution of both development and production filament wound composite product programs.

  • Position will require computer and access to network drives.

  • Software to include; Microsoft Office, Project and Visio.

Specific Skills Required:

Previous experience/responsibility for the technical, schedule and cost execution of development and/or production programs in support of government and/or commercial aerospace and defense or commercial composite product contracts. Must be self-motivated, flexible and capable of working effectively in a cross-functional team environment to achieve program objectives.

May require limited access to CAD software (Solid Edge and Unigraphics).

VIEW JOBS 1/16/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-16T00:00 Description The position is located in the Floodplain Management Section of the Engineering Programs and Services Division of the Nebraska Department of Natural Resources (NeDNR). Please be advised that this position is a grant funded position and is contingent upon continued funding. NeDNR has received grant funding since 1999, however this position will cease to exist if the funding is discontinued. The primary duties of this position include managing NeDNR projects and projects under NeDNR's Cooperating Technical Partners (CTP) grants with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), conducting detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis for flood risk identification, providing technical assistance to the general public, overseeing and supervising professional staff. Examples of Work Perform assignments under limited supervision as directed by his/her supervisor including: managing projects under NeDNR's CTP grants, the Silver Jackets program, and other NeDNR initiatives, conducting hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for flood hazard identification; delineating floodplain areas based on new or existing hydrologic and hydraulic analyses; preparing technical reports in accordance with State, Federal, and grant requirements; creating DFIRMs, databases, and metadata based on FEMA's guidelines and specifications; reviewing engineering studies and reports performed by other agencies and engineering firms; providing technical assistance related to the floodplain management to communities, counties and other state agencies; educating the general public about floodplain management; participating and conducting meetings as they relate to grant activities; overseeing and supervising professional staff. Qualifications / Requirements REQUIREMENTS: Professional experience in an engineering field applicable to the employing agency AND must possess a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license at the time of application, and be licensed by the Nebraska Board of Engineers and Architects at the time of employment or be able to obtain such license within 90 days of employment. OTHER: Experience using ESRI GIS Software, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, and Microsoft Office is required. A Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) is preferred, but not required. NOTE: This position may be filled at the Engineer II level which requires a Bachelor's Degree in an engineering field applicable to the employing agency and FE/EIT Certificate. Salary for this level is $23.979/hour. Applicants will also be expected to obtain their professional engineer's license at the first available opportunity that they are eligible to sit for the exam. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: principles and modern methods and techniques of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses; process for developing accurate topographic datasets using geographic information system (GIS); FEMA's flood insurance rate maps, and flood insurance reports; and knowledge of FEMA guidelines and specifications as they relate to DFIRM creation; is desired. Skilled in using: ESRI GIS software; HEC-RAS; HEC-HMS; and the Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to: prioritize tasks, be detailed orientated, follow guidelines and specifications, work with limited supervision, work with governmental agencies and the general public; communicate effectively; work cooperatively with co-workers, and work independently to solve complex engineering problems, is strongly desired.
