The Avery Dennison Label and Graphic Materials Group North America is looking for a Project Engineer to join our facility in Mill Hall, PA. The primary responsibilities and essential functions of this position include:

  • Must have experience managing small to large capital projects related to building construction, piping system installation, and or equipment purchases. Candidate should have a strong engineering background.

  • Responsible for developing bid specifications, soliciting bids, working with corporate procurement to award contracts for both manufacturing equipment and construction.

  • Develop project schedules, hire contractors, and supervise installations

  • Work with internal customers to ensure all functional requirements and acceptance criteria are documented and met using a documented acceptance criteria.

  • Follow Management of Change processes to implement projects.

  • Responsible for holding regular progress meetings, tracking commitments from others, and escalating any unresolved issues to management.

  • Must track and manage project budget

  • Demonstrated excellence in managing projects that meet or exceed schedule, financial, and performance targets.

  • Demonstrated experience using AutoCad for updating and creating plant layouts, P&ID drawings, and generating detailed fabrication or machine details. Equipment design experience is a plus.

  • Analyze, develop and recommend design approaches necessary to meet production requirements for new or improved products and/or processes.

  • Individual must be self directed and able to manage multiple priorities.

  • Compile and evaluate design and test data to prepare technical specifications.

  • Must be capable of working within a team and possess good communication skills.

  • Mentor maintenance and operations personnel.

  • Represents the organization as a technical contact on contracts and projects. Interacts with external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Participate in, lead and sponsor various task teams or problem solving teams.

What you will need to bring to the team:


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required.

  • Minimum 5 years engineering role experience in industrial manufacturing environments.

  • Process Safety Management (PSM) experience in a PSM covered environment is required.

  • Expertise in liquid piping systems at either equipment or facility level a plus.

  • Minimum 5 years Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple projects varying in scope and complexity.

  • Capital equipment purchasing experience preferred.

  • Ability to estimate, track, and manage to a capital budget.

  • Strong ability to troubleshoot equipment/process issues.

  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement focus.

Additional Competencies Required:

  • Possess well-developed communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Must be proficient with CAD and have a good background in mechanical systems.

  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints drawings and technical manuals.

  • Must possess demonstrated competency in construction management.

  • Must be knowledgeable in mechanical drafting standards used to generate fabrication details, machined component details, and minor assembly drawings as required to procure fabrications and machined components.

  • Strong ability to interface effectively with cross-functional groups to define and execute overall requirements.

The Process Safety Advisor will support the implementation and maintenance of the Process Safety Management (PSM) Program, in accordance with OSHA regulations. Help ensure the Manufacturing Site conforms to all PSM standards and directives established by Group SHE. Directly support the Process Risk Review (PRR) program and manage the implementation of various hazard studies and risk assessments. All other duties as assigned by management. Key Duties: Process Safety Management (90%) * Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and various other hazard studies / risk assessments * Support the completion of Process Risk Reviews (PRRs), including Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) * Manage hazard study corrective action plans and may be responsible for implementing some hazard study action items * Support completion of technical assessments (i.e. consequence analyses, reaction hazard assessments, other process risk assessments) * Provide support for other Process Safety programs, such as Change Management, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, Employee Involvement, and auditing. * Support the maintenance of all site Process Safety Management programs with necessary KPI tracking and development of new KPI's to help with continual improvement of PSM program at the site * Help provide the necessary PSM training to operators, mechanics, and other technical positions within the facility General Health and Safety (10%) * Enforce SHE principles and policies in the facility * Provide expertise where needed for facility SHE initiatives Qualifications: * BS in Chemical Engineering or other technical field required * At least 5 years' experience in a chemical process industry * At least 3 years' experience with Process Safety Management or related experience, including experience leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and other risk assessments * Previous experience with Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) preferred * Proficient in MS Office * Experience with PHA Pro software preferred * Experience with Consequence Modeling software preferred * Designation as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred Croda Mill Hall PA
