Sr. Programmer, Cobol/As400

SWBC is seeking a talented individual to solve intermediate programming and technical problems; change production programs in accordance with requested enhancements; participate in new program development; and perform analysis of program change requirements and make recommendations for implementation.

Essential duties include the following:

• Writes or modifies application programs according to standards.

• Acts in technical capacity for assigned projects.

• Participates in programmatic design oversight and analysis for code review and promotion.

• Analyzes testing needs and generates test data and conducts tests.

• Utilizes utility programs to analyze and solve problems.

• Performs analysis of program change requests and writes or modifies control languages/scripting languages according to standards.

• Writes and modifies document changes.

• Participates in operational support and on-call rotation.

Serious candidates will possess the minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field preferred.

• Minimum of five (5) years in programming in COBOL and Control Language (CL) experience in an AS/400 environment using COBOL and DB2.

• Strong understanding of SQL.

• Familiar with team development tools and source control (TFS, CVS, JIRA, GIT, etc.).

• Practice in Agile principles and extensive knowledge of Scrum and Kanban.

• Experience interfacing with Business Analysts and System Architects in the creation of designs, application development, and the creation, review and execution of test plans for critical business projects.

• Experienced with End-to-End system development life cycles.

• Can function in both agile and waterfall environments.

• Insurance, Banking or Mortgage application experience is a plus.

• Excellent detail oriented and problem analysis skills.

• Good organizational and time management skills.

• Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Ability to effectively write and present business correspondence, reports and procedure manuals.

• Familiar with most general office machines and have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.

• Able to sit and stand for long periods of time while performing duties.
