Through groundbreaking initiatives, the SEIU 775 Benefits Group, together with its union and employer partners, are ensuring that Washington state home care workers have access to the skills and support they need to stay and grow in the field. Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Administration, this role will be responsible for the development and execution of HR strategies and initiatives including the creation of a policy self-serve warehouse. This role encompasses a broad range of human resources functions ranging from people management and benefit administration to assisting in the implementation of new and revised policies, including developing training materials, hosting training sessions, and other related functions. This position will run initiatives resulting in the ability to measure and ensure high levels of staff engagement and job satisfaction. The Details: Location: Downtown Seattle (remote is not available for this role) Work Schedule: Our typical business hours are 8:30-5:00 Monday-Friday Travel Requirements: Up to 10% (mostly in-state) Category: Full-Time, Exempt, Non-Union Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit for long periods of the day Your responsibilities will include: * Continuously improve the on-boarding and succession planning processes; * Collaborate with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team on initiatives and projects; * Create a training and organizational development plan to meet professional, and organizational needs of employees; * Monitor policies and actions to assure compliance with federal, state, and local employment, wage and salary, L & I, and equal employment opportunity laws and regulations; * Direct the administration of benefit programs to include: health, pension, death, disability, workers' compensation, and unemployment; * Assist in negotiations of collective bargaining agreement and oversee implementation of contract; * Mediate and resolve issues and grievances for both union and non-union employees; * Prepare and manage human resources department budgets; * Develop a system to document, evaluate, and revise HR policies and procedures; * Establish and implement short- and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures; * Develop and deliver training for managers and other team members that is congruent with a needs assessment of skills * Manage day-to-day HR activities including: employee relations; job descriptions; performance and disciplinary actions, liaison for HR legal issues, onboarding, reference checking, facility operations, and HR policies and procedures * Oversee staff engagement activities * Manage junior and specialist human resources staff * Oversee the day-to-day activities of the department including budgeting, planning, and staff development Required qualifications: * 5 years of experience in human resources, 3+ in a leadership position * Confidence with assessing and evaluating data adeptly to identify key performance indicators that drive results * A deep grasp of how process improvement systems operate where key performance indicators are continuously evaluated, redefined as needed, and process improvements implemented * Excellent communication and presentation skills before diverse audiences; * The ability to work cross functionally within the organization and with a complex and diverse set of stakeholders * A passion for employee engagement * Knowledge and commitment to cultural diversity * Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations applicable to employment, wage and hour administration, labor relations, equal employment opportunity, and other requirement of sound HR administration * Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Internet, websites, and browser and quick adaptor of new technologies * Other duties as assigned by supervisor Preferred qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in human resource management, business, organizational development, or relevant field * SPHR Certification The SEIU 775 Benefits Group provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
