Typical Duties of a Senior Production and Facilities Manager includes:
Ensure that all management practices are consistent with commonly accepted standards for animal welfare and work closely with the Environmental Department to safeguard the environment and maintain regulatory compliance.
Plan production and set goals for all farms within assigned region; ensure the implementation of standard operating procedures through routine farm visits, coaching and formal farm audits.
Ensure Farm Managers and Production Managers utilize system tools to maintain accurate production records while fostering a culture of lean continuous improvement and efficiency in all operations.
Monitor and track production performance at each farm to ensure achievement of goals and review operating costs.
Support Farm and Production Managers on technologies and innovations to improve production and promote the implementation of all improvement protocols.
Collaborate with Health Services to establish farm-specific biosecurity plans, ensure compliance with bio-security standards and implement preventative and therapeutic health treatment programs.
Provide direct leadership to a tactical management team through effective communication, goal setting and routine coaching of management behaviors; partner with Human Resources for hiring, staffing, discipline and terminations.
Promote safe work habits, a safe working environment and ensure all work-related injuries are properly reported and
Work with Animal Housing resources to identify building and equipment repair needs, support facilitation of major capital repairs, routine repairs and preventative maintenance programs and evaluate equipment requirements, upgrades or replacements.
Provide assistance in planning and executing an annual operating plan for maintenance and projects and report on progress against this budget.
Complete audits, reporting, and permit filing for construction projects in accordance with all applicable laws and company policies.
Minimum Experience Required:
5 years swine production or related experience with 3 years in a production management role
5 years of repair and maintenance experience
Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record required
Minimum Education Requirements:
High School diploma or GED required
Associates Degree in Animal Science, Construction Management, Business or related field
B.S. degree in these fields highly preferred.
KNowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Livestock/swine management and handling.
