Specialty

  • Develop Engineering solutions of Vehicle Soft Trim, preferred specialty on Trunk Trim, Cargo, and Rear Window Trim. Metal Formability knowledge is a plus.

  • Experience required with OEM or Tier 1 as Supplier Integrated

  • Product Engineering Experience with OEMs preferred

  • German language skills a plus

Summary

The primary purpose of this role is to define the elements of Autoneum's product line in such a way that it meets the needs of the end user (OEM customer) within the capabilities of our Manufacturing team. As a senior level professional it is expected that this individual leads the Autoneum Product Engineering team, and collaborates with the design staff, systems development, laboratory personnel, tooling, manufacturing and process engineering, and tier two suppliers for the assigned projects. Primary among these tasks is to perform Engineering Analysis as described in the ISO/TS procedures for the project's Bill of Materials. Equally important is the role this individual plays in our relationship to our customers. Your responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Defines products that achieve optimal NVH/Acoustic/Thermal performance within the constraints of existing manufacturing process capability and materials with ease of assembly at the customer assembly plant

  • Provides single point of contact to customer for product design and engineering issues for assigned products, ensuring support of performance demands, ease of assembly, cost and quality targets are met

  • Leads design and engineering team in defining the project activities, milestones, and staff requirements, in support of customer requirements

  • Reports on the status of project milestones to Design Leader, Engineering Manager and Program Manager and adjusts schedule as necessary to meet the agreed objectives. Using the Corporate defined tools this individual will record and track project activities and report progress in the prescribed format

  • Reviews product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications. Product design includes design feasibility, support of DFM, VA/VE, complexity and quality (drawings, tolerances, specifications and significant characteristics)

  • Coordinates activities of the technical development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering, design and test problems

  • Leads Engineering Analysis with supporting documentation. Provides verification that resulting testing meets customer requirements

  • Provides engineering direction to designers as needed

  • Supports prototype and production vehicle and product launch events at Autoneum Manufacturing, customer and supplier facilities as required

  • Provides supervision, training and mentoring to Product Engineers

  • GD&T working knowledge, RSS Stacks

  • Able to manage/prioritize workloads in OEM environment, including independent offsite locations

  • Injection molding experience a plus

  • Soft trim experience preferred

Your qualifications

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required

  • MS in Engineering a plus

  • Position requires a minimum of 10 years' experience in product engineering

  • 1 year of vehicle interior experience is preferred

  • Acoustic experience a plus

  • Working knowledge of Teamcenter, specifically building & maintaining BOMs for End Products

Travel

  • Required (International ~ 5%, Domestic ~5%)

Language Ability

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Must have the ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community

  • Must be able to effectively present information to management (internal and customer).

Math Ability

  • Must have the ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts

  • Must have the ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis

  • Ability to perform RSS stack ups and tolerance studies.

Reasoning Ability

  • Required to have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

  • Must be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet software, E-mail, knowledge of manufacturing software, database software

  • Siemens Teamcenter

  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk and reach with hands and arms. The vision requirements include: close vision and ability to adjust focus.

This position works under pressure of deadlines with interruptions occurring regularly.

Position frequently requires more than 40 hours per week.
