The Sr. Product Manager role requires strategic skills, leadership, and a set of marketing skills that can translate into successful sales, share and profit results. This critical role is responsible for translating the general strategic direction of a line from senior management to a set of concrete strategies and plans ready for action at all levels of the organization. The Sr. Product Manager reports to the Marketing Director North America and has revenue, market share, and profit & loss responsibility for his or her line. This person will own the vision and lead a multi-disciplinary team towards success giving it high visibility internally among disciplines and management. Day to day the Senior Product Manager will:

  • Have a keen view of the external environment including a) general trends impacting the business b) competitive assessment and c) and customer understanding

  • Be a good leader of people. He or she will lead multifunctional teams throughout the organization

  • Maintain and grow his or her product categories in terms of Net Revenue, EBITDA, and Market Share

  • Conduct strategic, annual, and marketing planning/re-planning

  • Lead activities inside and outside the company that will result in successful implementation of marketing plans

  • Conduct external and internal assessments of the business environment, competitors, customers, and market trends

  • Lead new product initiatives

  • Identify and pursue margin and financial enhancing programs


  • 7+ years of increasing responsibility in creative product marketing across multiple markets and products

  • Preferably within the B2B arena and with capital products

  • Experience successfully developing and launching product marketing programs from concept

  • 2 years' experience leading cross-functional teams to time-bound product performance outcomes

  • Internal and external programs and toolkits

  • Success validation factors and reporting

  • Demonstrated ability to read and manage product programs by P&L results

  • Strong analytical abilities and Excel skills

  • Strong verbal and written skills including the ability to communicate effectively up, down and across organizational levels

  • Demonstrated continued engagement in current B2B marketing trends and skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • This role may require occasional travel including overnight

  • The ability to navigate production or branch office locations to see products in use, including navigating uneven ground in a construction-type environment

The Head of Managed Accounts / Senior Product Manager will lead and manage product-related business initiatives for the Retail/High Net Worth Managed Account business and investment vehicles. Product-related initiatives and activities include all facets of product development, product management and product implementation including but not limited to new product design and introduction, pricing and expense. management, policy development, oversight and governance, vendor management, sales training and support and other day to day activities as necessary. This position will serve as firm-wide subject matter expert for the Managed Account business including Model Delivery, Retail SMA, and Dual Contract accounts globally. This position will work in a strategic capacity with senior management across the investment, distribution, operations, and corporate divisions of T. Rowe Price to ensure strategic alignment for investment products and vehicles. This includes critical planning for the design, execution, timelines, and prioritization for multiple high impact initiatives. This position is responsible for developing long term strategy and roadmaps, identifying opportunities and issues, analyzing approaches, and leading cross-functional teams to implement effective solutions. This work often requires the product manager to own strategic direction, decision points and influence priorities which are complex and require significant levels of collaboration and synthesis across the enterprise. Given the strategic importance of this newly launched business for T. Rowe Price, the Head of Managed Accounts will be expected to lead the organization in the growth of this product line. RESPONSIBILITIES Product Management and Administration * Manage activities associated with the introduction of new investment products. Acts as business lead overseeing all phases of the process from recommendation through implementation. Collaborates with investment divisions, distribution groups, legal department, and senior management. Provides direction and oversight to operating groups once internal approvals are obtained. * Lead design of business processes, procedures, and policies related to the products and investment vehicles. Work with management across operations, distribution, investments to address business issues such as client eligibility, trading policies, sponsor contract requirements while effectively implementing solutions and establishing industry best practices for this effort. * Ensure products are strategically positioned within the marketplace and among T. Rowe Price's broader product line up while mitigating operational, regulatory and other business risks. * Create and maintain appropriate levels of governance consistent with T. Rowe Price's collaborative culture and corporate structure. Product Strategy/Development * Responsible for developing product strategy and roadmaps while managing to short-term and long-term deliverables. * Lead product design and implementation activities related to Managed Account products in collaboration with other key stakeholders in the product development process. * Evaluate competitive environment and trends, analyzes weaknesses or gaps, and identifies potential opportunities. Charged with developing recommendations for the Product Strategy Committee (PSC), the Management Committee (MC), and other senior management approval and providing in-depth, strategic analysis to support those recommendations. Vehicle Expense Management * Serve as subject matter expert for vehicle expenses, management fees, and other economic factors including in-depth knowledge of industry practices and trends. * Conduct extensive strategic analysis to provide recommendations for consistent and competitive pricing strategies and practices. Project Initiatives * Initiate, lead or participate in projects that contribute to the long-term success of investment vehicles such as evaluating an end to end process to seek and mitigate risks, improve sales efforts, enhance client service, and/or strengthen the infrastructure used to support the investment vehicles. * Act a subject matter expert resource to Distribution, Investments and other Shared Services Departments regarding product/vehicle characteristics, policies, and procedures. Available to meet with current or prospective clients in support of issues or opportunities raised by Distribution teams, Operations and/or Investments. * Ensure that any impact to, dependencies on, risks and other consequences to other business lines, functional areas, distribution channels are well understood, vetted and communicated. * Participate in various committees as needed. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Undergraduate degree is required with at least 12+ years of related product management experience. * Demonstrated track record of success leading strategic product management and implementation efforts across asset classes and distribution channels for a complex global investment management product organization. * Deep knowledge of best industry practices for the Retail Managed Account market including strong knowledge of the US marketplace. * Proven ability to effectively influence and work within a matrixed global structure across product, investments, distribution, operations, legal, etc. * Senior level presence with a reputation of projecting credibility and gaining trust and respect at all levels, internally and externally. * Creative orientation with strong oral and written communication skills coupled with a track record of success developing and executing effective initiatives that drive business results. * Experienced project manager with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills. * Recognized by colleagues and external constituents for having superior communication, presentation and engagement skills. * Proven ability to "connect the dots" and understand relationships between various facts, ideas, and objectives. * Reputation for team-oriented style, exceptional listening skills and a collaborative management approach. * Outstanding financial, technical and quantitative analytical and financial modeling skills. * Professional curiosity with a proven ability to identify and drive innovative new ideas. * Enthusiastic and optimistic with a drive to succeed and willingness to take managed risks.
