The Sr. Procurement Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company's overall supply chain and logistics strategy and operations to maximize process efficiency and productivity. This position plays a crucial role in developing and maintaining good relationships with vendors, distributors, and internal operations team. This role currently has one (1) direct report, with potential to expand the Team over the next 1-2 years.  The Procurement Manager will entail growth in the Logistics/Freight area, which also supports the entire Supply Chain function.

Essential Job Functions:

The essential job functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Procurement (80%)

  • Effectively negotiates contracts and manages the competitive bid process; oversees contract follow up and deliveries.

  • Determine appropriate inventory levels (min/max) of all non-meat materials & service based on forecasted demand, storage capacity, and cost.

  • Weekly replenishment execution for NJ & GA facility, ensuring no stockouts.

  • Directs the development and execution of standards, controls, policies, procedures and performance metrics to effectively and efficiently manage the acquisition, inventory and deployment and reporting of spend for all packaging materials.

  • Engages in reviews with suppliers and internal/external stakeholders based on total cost of both goods and services and works to optimize this total cost and drive productivity savings.

  • Maintains awareness and manages risk associated with key market trends and prices to optimize total cost to the company.

  • Plans schedules and monitors inbound movement of materials from suppliers.

  • Work heavily in ERP, Microsoft Excel, Salesforce and other data systems to maintain Master Data.

  • Be on call after hours and some weekends to resolve materials availability issues related to assigned category of responsibility.

  • Works with 3rd party logistics groups in the storage of raw materials.

  • Requires interaction with corporate vendors, plant personnel, and service providers.

  • Strategically lead and plan category teams and suppliers that will drive projects to full completion.

  • Develop and implement strategies on collaborations with food innovation teams, safety and quality assurance, marketing, and commodity risk management.

  • Ensure supplier relationships while evaluating performance and engagement plans.

Logistics (20%)

As backup for the primary role, during coverage periods, this role is accountable for dealing with challenging operations issues that will require a strong understanding of logistics and carrier network, and you will have the ability to implement solutions that will influence the short and long-term operations. Develop Carrier Relationships.  Ensures customers freight is picked up and delivered on-time using safe and reliable carriers.  Develop and manage our data base of outside carriers to grow our carrier base.  Assess potential TMS systems with Director of Supply Chain to improve overall planning. Partner closely with customer service to ensure customer orders are delivered according to committed date.

  • Executes performance management metrics reviews (cost, speed, quality, etc.) for outbound transportation and derive develop improvement plans.

  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives with carriers, fulfilment centers, customer service and retail teams to improve customer experience, freight costs and processes.

  • Produces and communicates transport plans/forecasts on a regular basis.

  • Manages Transportation related escalations and claims resolution.

  • Drives root-cause analysis and the successful implementation of corrective actions with causing parties to improve service or cost, or to resolve a problem.

  • Drives innovation by taking ownership of new projects and its operational success.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Economics, Logistics, Engineering or related field.

  • 10+ years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing, or logistics environment, and 5+ years in Procurement.

  • Food & Beverage experience required.

  • Excellent customer service skills and commercial understanding.

  • Ability to drive complex analysis, and making data driven decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to simplify complex topics for broad audiences.

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment.

  • Experience leading teams and initiatives to improve efficiencies, including business processes.
