Abbott Molecular has an opening for a Sr. Procurement Manager. This position serves as the primary interface between Abbott Molecular and the contract manufacturer of the Alinity m instrument as well as key sub-component suppliers. This is a highly visible role with key accountabilities that will include managing supplier performance and ramp up, driving for strategic cost savings, contract execution, management of supply continuity/risk mitigation, and supporting the development of business unit innovation and growth opportunities. The position reports to Director, Instrument Procurement.

This position serves as the AMD procurement leader for the Alinity m, a decision-maker, and an influencer to our Suppliers. Activities include sourcing, evaluating and selecting suppliers and vendors, negotiating supply contracts, management of cost, PPV, and financial reconciliations, maintaining supplier relationships, and monitoring the quality and timeliness of materials and services supplied when escalated.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the supplier relationship with the Alinity m contract manufacturer (TPM) and critical component suppliers to ensure supply continuity and cost performance.

  • Accountable for managing supplier performance including the proactive management of sub-component stocking levels.

  • Drives Total Cost of Ownership reductions for the instrument through successful negotiations and sourcing strategies.

  • Proactively manages supply risk through the development of procurement strategies and the execution of contracts. Develops contingency plans as required to address uninterrupted product supply.

  • Manages the financial reconciliation process with the TPM and PPV process for the instrument, spares, and accessories with Finance.

  • Directly responsible for major contract negotiations with suppliers, develops a glide path with key suppliers to drive continuous cost reduction.

  • Works closely and partners with other cross functional areas including R&D, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Manufacturing Operations to ensure a successful launch and scale up.

  • Establish and maintain relationships with divisional/corporate support groups (One Procurement, etc) that will result in enhanced teamwork and lead to the accomplishments of division and corporate procurement saving goals.

  • Evaluate team capability and organization structure and make necessary change to align with business needs, drive performance and establish best-practice processes as well as metrics.

  • Must understand commercial and operational strategies for the Business Unit/Region to direct procurement efforts in support of cost savings, risk strategies and new product launches.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required

  • Successful 7+ year track record within procurement and supply chain management is required.

  • Ability to travel up to 50% to visit TPM in New Hampshire and other key suppliers as needed.

  • The incumbent must be highly motivated, hands-on, results driven, financially competent and can work in a fast-paced organization.

  • Experience in managing supplier relationships with third party contract manufacturers (TPMs) in the medical device or similar industry.

  • Strong organizational skills, including program/project governance and increased levels of staff oversight. Direct experience leading governance boards of large multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal). Comfortable and effective in presenting to senior leadership.

  • Strong interdisciplinary, excellent intercultural influence, and networking skills. Broad international experience and globally astute. Deep knowledge of markets by regions.

  • Strong negotiation skills and experience in the execution and enforcement of complex contractual relationships with suppliers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering or technical degree or MBA

  • Background in mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical components is a plus

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM); Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or similar certification

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
