Context: Our client, an innovative leader within the oilfield products and services industry, is seeking a Sr. Procurement & Inventory Specialist to join their dynamic team in Midland, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in procurement, specifically in buying, with extensive experience in inventory management systems such as JD Edwards, Oracle, and E1. This role requires a proactive approach to managing supply chain operations, enhancing vendor relations, and optimizing cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the work of personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
- Maintain procurement records such as items or services purchased costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and inventories. Monitor procurement records to meet company requirements.
- Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability, and prepare reports such as Business Cases, Lease vs Buy proposals, Economic Justifications.
- Develop and manage a system to evaluate vendor quotations that utilizes appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques to ensure best quality, price, delivery, and service.
- Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection or quality control personnel, users, vendors, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
- Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a better price while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and change of notices.
- Review purchase order claims, contracts, and invoices for conformance to company policy.
- Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Oversee all activities related to procurement of materials, parts, equipment, supplies, tools from intent to purchase through the delivery.
- Negotiate or supervise the negotiation of requests for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure procured items are supplied with adequate documentation and that all documentation is made available to the engineering staff.
- Work with Product Line, Engineering and/or operations staff closely.
- Work with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule.
- Expedite delivery of goods to users both domestic and international.
- Lead or assist Strategic sourcing projects and the Strategic sourcing group.
- Assist the Corporate AP department with resolving supplier payment and system issues.
- Assist Finance/Accounting departments with Forecasting and Budgeting.
- Collect, interpret, and analyze relevant division spending as it relates to Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Performance evaluations in accordance with GSCP policies.
- Create A3(Gantt) charts, manage timelines, monitor resources, material supply planning, delivery schedules and all data pertinent to global procurement/logistics. This includes international freight forwarding, documentation and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in a procurement role within the oilfield energy services industry.
- Proficiency in JD Edwards, Oracle, and E1 inventory management systems.
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and techniques, including min/max inventory levels.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers to obtain optimal pricing and terms.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across various departments.
- Certification in Supply Chain Management such as CPSM or CSCP is preferred.
- Knowledge of the latest industry trends and technologies in oilfield energy services procurement.
