The Role

This position works alongside strategic sourcing activities for various types of polymers and polymer related materials, works closely with key stakeholders in Business, Operations, Quality/Regulatory and R+D organizations and in corporate functions to develop effective category strategies and implementation plans. The Procurement Engineer - Polymers will be an integral part of the Global Procurement organization to develop and implement a global sourcing strategy and appropriate KPIs to measure success.

This role is based at our Chaska, MN or Colorado Springs, CO facility.

In this role you will

  • Understand polymer and polymer related spends across the business, analyze category markets and translate into actionable strategies and forward-looking analysis.

  • Understand the concepts of both the scientific and commercial sides of Global Procurement;

  • Assist in negotiations;

  • Assist in Development of Polymers category, Stays abreast of the changing supply base and new technologies;

  • Assist on efforts to drive cost optimization, improved quality and service and enhanced innovation through alternative science;

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders upstream and downstream to ensure engagement, buy-in and ownership of key sourcing strategies;

  • Support compliance and quality activities around procurement at varying sites;

  • Remain current with market trends through relationships with vendors and market experts; identifying and communicating new technologies and solutions to Company's key problems in the assigned spend areas;

  • Lead efforts to work with Business Units and Plants to resolve issues with materials and/or suppliers expediently;

  • Leads efforts to take current materials into next generation applications by working creatively and effectively with the supply base to help attain a specific set of materials that are off the shelf, but provide advantages in our applications.

Traits we believe make a strong candidate

  • 8-10 years of Materials Development experience with applications in SEMI or other high tech markets;

  • B.S. Degree or M.S. degree in Engineering or science discipline;

  • Demonstrated understanding of various Procurement and Quality requirements;

  • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing new materials in a SEMI, High Tech, and/or Medical application;

  • Experience leading multicultural virtual teams in a global and complex environment;

  • Ability to travel up to 35%;

  • SAP ERP experience preferred;

  • Sourcing and Procurement Proficiency:

  • Strategic sourcing expertise and understands sourcing methodologies and tools;

  • Understands external market fundamentals, utilizes appropriate e-sourcing tools, generates and analyze innovative sourcing options that enable value, business and financial acumen, analytical skills, ethical responsibility.

Description * The Senior Analyst Procurement is directly responsible for the planning, organizing, and execution of strategic and tactical procurement activities for direct purchases across multiple commodities within the guidelines of Beckman Coulter, Inc. policies and procedures while supporting the operational and financial goals and objectives of the Company and maintaining the highest ethical standards. * Manages the purchasing of critical components and commodities for production across multiple value streams. * Manages the purchasing of expense materials and service suppliers to support MRO purchases. * Manages material procurement activities from external and internal entity suppliers, scheduling, ordering, and expediting for material needs. * Works closely with Material Control, Planning, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Shipping/Receiving functions to track and report status and define priorities to meet production schedules. Manages elevated emergency situations, part shortages and expedites when necessary. Works closely with Corporate Strategic Sourcing group to determine long-term corrective/preventative measures. * Follows material procurement and supplier management policies & procedures through SOP work instructions for supply chain. * Responsible for supplier management to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction through use of established lean tools. * Is assigned to manage specific daily standard work activities to provide daily procurement priority and status to others in the supply chain and operations' organization. * Employs procurement automation and standardized buying processes across value streams using tools such as Kanban with blanket orders and auto-releases based on other trigger mechanisms. * Identifies and assists with resolving any issues that delay material deliveries. * Can be assigned to lead cross-functional teams focused on supplier lead-time reduction or to lead or participate in special projects for Continuous Improvement. * Participates on teams to determine specific cost reduction activities that are assigned as commodities dictate.
