Responsible for the creation, maintenance and monitoring of bill of material (BOM) from bid/proposals phase to submittal and thru execution and final project closure. The work output from this role will have a direct impact on MDHI's competitive position in the defense market and customer satisfaction.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Managing proposal BOM from development through submittal of proposal
Compiling and analyzing supplier and other available data in order to perform comprehensive price analyses
Developing material related basis of estimates (BOE) based on relevant MDHI and market data
Clearly identifying assumptions and dependencies used in price build-ups
Developing compliant Price Analyses for TINA compliant proposals
Documenting COPD data and analysis per FAR requirements
Participating in TINA Sweeps and updating for latest cost or pricing data
Participating in audits with Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) / Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA)
Analyze engineering change orders (EOs), create manufacturing change orders, tracking and report BOM variances to standard cost and original price proposal
Perform BOM audits and resolve any discrepancies, perform independent assessments of supplier reasonableness, working closely with Business Development, Finance, Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
Travel may be required to support.
No direct responsibilities but on occasion, trains and mentors others.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Strong quantitative and analytical skills.
Expert in Excel, Access and SQL Reporting Services.
Broad range of computer skillsdatabase, spreadsheet and statistics applications.
Ability to communicate findings, make recommendations, and facilitate change.
Experience and complete understanding of a MRP / ERP system (preferably JD Edwards) preferred
Advance skills in and proficient with Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
The successful candidate must be aggressive but yet professional on behalf of the company and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment
Self-motivated, persistent, hands-on, result oriented, well organized with ability to handle multiple projects within expected time frame
Must be proactive and have a sense of urgency to meet the demands of all customers and have the ability to think ahead of potential problems
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, and organization skills are required
The ability to understand and follow instructions and the ability to concentrate is required
Excellent written, verbal, communication and interpersonal skills
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or University required in Engineering, Cost accounting, Finance preferred and 5-7 years of experience.
Preferences will be given to: 1) Procurement, Supply Chain, Finance, Mathematics and Accounting Degrees.
Experience with estimating and pricing proposal, basis of estimates, issuing RFP's, procurement, or financial analysis with a defense contractor/manufacturer is required
