The main responsibilities include :

  • Identify and recommend lines of defence that have been or may be incorporated into the design and operation of the process in order to prevent or mitigate the release of hazardous chemicals.

  • Proactive in identification, evaluation and mitigation or prevention of chemical releases that could occur as a result of failures in processes, procedures, or equipment.

  • Develop the necessary expertise, experience, judgement, and initiative within the work force to properly implement and maintain an effective process safety management program as in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard and EPA RMP.

  • Compiling information will be a necessary resource to a variety of users including the team performing the process hazard analysis as required by PSM; those developing the training programs and the operating procedures; contractors whose employees will be working with the process; those conducting the pre-start-up reviews; as well as local emergency preparedness planners, and insurance and enforcement officials.

  • Lead development, implementation, and oversight of Health and Safety Programs as assigned.

  • Provide guidance and technical support regarding Health and Safety programs as assigned.

  • Maintains and improves the Health & Safety Management System (as assigned) that drives performance including reduction of risks, injuries, spills, releases, compliance events, natural resource and cost efficiencies.

  • Responsible for site emergency plan, readiness of the ERT and emergency exercises and responding to site incidents.

  • Develop a plan that ensures that agreed upon property insurance recommendations are completed in a timely fashion.

  • Lead the plant Safety Committee initiatives and meetings, as well as lead the VPP programs

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all Corporate EHS&S policies.

  • Gain knowledge and experience to function in all aspects of Environmental, Health & Safety, as well as Process Safety Management

  • Provide dual role abilities and alignment with the EHS&S Manager

  • Other EHS&S duties as assigned

  • Establish and ensure disciplined adherence to all regulatory, corporate and customer standards, safety policies & procedures.

  • Ensure systems are in place to maintain compliance.

  • Conduct appropriate investigations, reviews, and root cause assessments for any deviations.

  • Communicate effectively to the appropriate manager(s) any deviations and learnings.

  • Ensures that process safety is in compliance with all regulatory, OSHA and EPA standards. Inclusive of P&IDs for hazardous processes

  • Training appropriate personnel as required


  • Capable of creating/updating P&IDs Maintains accurate and up to date files

  • Responsible for audit findings and follow up on any corrective actions required.

  • Ability to work through others in order to complete task.

  • Assist with required training

  • Identifies opportunities for, and assists with progression of, personal development.

Communication Management

  • Communicates findings and needs to site management and appropriate corporate personnel.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with outside auditors or regulatory officials

  • Responsibility to maintain communication to stakeholders.

  • Communicates updates to customers while understanding that some information might be sensitive or restricted.

  • Ensures that the level of detail in reports is sufficient to assist decision-making.

  • Assist in EHS&S budget to include PSM related items

  • Prepares for appropriate permits and cost related to permits

Qualification skills:

  • Bachelor of Science

  • Preferred 5 years' experience in chemical industry as EHS&S Manager or PSM Specialist

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Solid comprehension of chemical processes and unit operations

  • Ability to facilitate troubleshooting efforts and team meetings

  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

What You'll Do: * Implement established safety / environmental programs for compliance to company and government regulations * Administer and monitor Corporate and BU Safety / Environmental programs * Maintain records of training, qualifications, certifications, etc., as they apply to the safety program * Provides training to enable effective operation of the established safety systems * Initiates, documents, and monitors corrective actions to adherence to safety programs * Conducts safety audits of buildings, facilities, tools and equipment. * Determines safety training requirements and provides employees with safety training applicable to their work processes * Investigates accidents to determine the root cause, circumstances and contributing factors * Develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrence * Maintains comprehensive knowledge of government safety regulations * What You'll Need: * Ability to maintain accurate, current records and generate complete and timely reports * Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all employees throughout the plant * Certified Safety Professional certification desired * Minimum of 1-2 years equivalent combination of experience and training which results in the required knowledge, skills, and abilities * Considerable knowledge of all state and Federal regulations relative to safety, health, environment, and worker's compensation or ability to acquire quickly * Advanced computer literacy with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint required Trinity Industries Inc Winder GA
