Process Engineer
The Process Engineer will assist Production Manager and Engineering team with making plant wide improvement changes and future planning decisions. Compile key data points to make informed suggestions and decisions on Process Improvements. Prioritize process improvements, looking to make the improvements that lead to the most impact with the least amount of effort. Investigating new refining processes/methods to determine improvements and changes that will result in reduced precious metal inventories, lower operating costs, and safer operations. Work with operators and supervisors to create current state value stream maps, performing small engineering changes as well as assisting on large engineering projects.
Skills/Abilities
Mechanically inclined and be able to explore novel ways of approaching a problem.
Must have the ability to work independently in a laboratory and have fundamental lab skills necessary to conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
Understand broad chemical engineering concepts (i.e. Energy and material mass balances) as well as inorganic chemistry and demonstrate the ability to apply those concepts to specific production problems in a technically complex environment.
Hands on skills to working closely with operators in the facility to gain familiarity with the existing processes to enable effective troubleshooting and improvement.
Design and plan the layout of equipment
Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
Schedule and coordinate projects to align with deadlines and budgets.
Fundamental understanding of process instrumentation and automation.
Responsibilities:
Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
Oversee implementation of new systems
Work with EH&S to establish safety procedures for those working with dangerous chemicals
Conduct tests and monitor the performance of processes throughout production
Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes implement changes as needed
Design, develop and implement new and improved processes.
Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree in engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
Experience in a production or research environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project)
Must have a background with metals, Platinum group metals would be a plus.
