REQUIREMENTS:

  • The individual in this position will be responsible for maintaining production processes for a high-volume compound semiconductor fab and assist in developing new and advanced processes to support new product initiatives

  • This includes process monitoring, initiating and qualifying continuous improvement projects, process documentation, skills training, technical mentoring, and production support through operations technicians

  • The individual will work with other groups within the Wafer Fab including manufacturing, equipment engineering, and device engineering

  • The individual will be expected to utilize sound problem-solving methodologies to support process improvements and to utilize statistical methods to ensure process control

  • This position will report to a Process Engineering Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS degree is required in engineering or physics; MS preferred

  • Prefer 5 years' of wafer fab process engineering experience

  • Responsibilities may include Photolithography, Thin Films, or Dry Etch

  • Experience and familiarity with automated optical inspection (AOI), defect analysis, and metrology are highly desirable

  • Working knowledge of compound semiconductor and acoustic filter device physics is preferred.

  • The successful candidate will have strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of statistical control techniques

  • This individual will need to be capable of establishing control and monitoring systems for support of high-volume manufacturing

  • Solid interpersonal skills and cross-functional effectiveness are critical

We are recruiting for a Sr Product Engineer; it is a strategic leader in Qorvo's Infrastructure and Defense Products (IDP) with annual revenue of approximately $1 billon. The incumbent will provide leadership with key product lines supporting Wireless Infrastructure and/or Defense & Aerospace market segments and enabling revenue growth through the timely introduction of cost effective, differentiated products ensuring high gross margin. This position will be based in Richardson, TX. As a Sr Product Engineer in the IDP Product Group, you will be part of a focused team that develops and qualifies new products while also maintains the current portfolio of released products. You will be driving innovation and continuous improvement in a fast-paced, dynamic environment through the use of rigorous statistical methods. The position focuses on new product introductions and improving yields/margins of Wi-Fi product portfolio. Interfaces with Design, Applications, Test, Process, Reliability, Operations and Quality Engineering teams throughout the development process. Drives product improvements in order to maintain quality and to ensure customer requirements are met. Position is based in Greensboro, NC. RESPONSIBILITIES: * Drive and own product engineering deliverables for New Product Development * Data-driven decision making based on timely and thorough data analysis * Provide detailed analyses on each major design revision during the prototype phase of development, identify key parameters needing improvement and then communicate these to the design team * Practice continuous improvement and yield optimization by tracking foundry parameters, uncovering correlations and troubleshooting process and equipment issues * Employ appropriate Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles to reduce variability in product performance * Develop test plans for prototype and production electrical testing of wafers and packaged devices * Analyze products to ensure manufacturability and data sheet compliance, including setting the optimal screening limits and guard-bands in production test plans * Support Test Engineering activities to debug, validate and release production test hardware/software • Conduct measurement systems analysis (Gauge R&R) * Compile and analyze data using common statistical techniques (time-series analysis, CPK, DOE, SPC, ANOVA) and effectively present key results along with recommended actions * Generates Yield Plans that provide a roadmap for improving manufacturing efficiency in order to optimize cost models and to meet yield targets * Engage in group problem-solving and process improvement projects (familiarity with Six Sigma or comparable methods is desirable) * Serve as the central technical resource for design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as products move from the prototype phase into production QUALIFICATIONS: * BS in Electrical Engineering or comparable technical discipline (MS preferred) * At least 5 years of experience in a semiconductor environment, preferably within the wireless RF Power Amplifier industry * Understanding of Wi-Fi standards as it relates to Power Amplifiers * Working knowledge of product reliability and qualification methodologies * Use and documentation of disciplined problem-solving techniques such as 8D or 5-Whys * Expertise in statistical methods and using databases and statistical software (SQL, JMP, Excel, etc.) * Understanding of RF/Microwave theory and of semiconductor physics * Knowledge of the typical RF test equipment and common test methodologies * Must have strong attention to detail, be self-motivated and able to achieve results with minimal supervision * A team player with strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills * Ability to interface effectively and to build consensus with coworkers at every level of the company. * Time management skills sufficient to balance multiple high-priority activities * Must be comfortable in leading activities and projects at both the tactical and strategic level Because this position is part of a business unit that contracts with the US government, qualified candidates must be U.S. persons (generally a US citizen or green card holder).
