We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Principal Software Engineer

  • C++ Embedded, Multi-Spectral Targeting Systems (MTS) to join our Electro-Optical & Infrared (EO/IR) Solutions Engineering Team, which is part of our Advanced Products & Solutions group.

As the Senior Principal Software Engineer, deliverables include:

  • Design, implement, code, test, document, optimize and support systems integration in support of mission critical advanced surveillance and targeting system solutions.

  • Work closely with software architects and systems engineers to ensure solutions meet system and subsystem level functional and performance requirements.

  • Lead/mentor as needed.

  • Work onsite at McKinney, TX

  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years of relevant software development experience using C++ or similar.

  • Experience using a Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS), e.g., VxWorks, Redhawk, RTLinux, etc.

  • Experience with design, code, integration, and testing of software for embedded platforms

  • Experience in multiple phases of software lifecycle, including software implementation and system integration.

  • Developing software on Linux platforms.

  • Experience with HW/SW level interfaces, DevSecOps methodologies and tools.

  • Clearance and Citizenship requirement: Must have current SECRET Clearance; US Citizenship is mandatory to acquire and maintain Security clearances.

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10 years of relevant software experience.

Advanced Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AI/ML in application development

  • Experience developing applications with the CUDA framework for GPU platforms.

  • Ability to write, run, interpret and understand MatLab applications.

  • Experience working with Electro-Optical and Infrared Sensors (EO/IR) sensors.

  • Prior surveillance and targeting system software development experience.

Requires expert or mastery level knowledge of work area, typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. May have deep knowledge of project management. The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
