Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Sr. Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:

  • Work in a cross-discipline collaborative environment to develop software for flight/safety-critical and modeling applications

  • Participate in the full lifecycle of software development to include C coding to high assurance standards

  • Participate in software integration activities such as debugging on target hardware

  • Create automated test scripts for formal validations

  • Create software requirements

  • Design interface documentation

  • Support program reviews

Clearance: Although not required to start this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years of software engineering experience

  • OR a Master's Degree in (STEM) with at least 7 years of software engineering experience

  • OR a PhD. in (STEM) with at least 4 years of software engineering experience

  • Experience developing software/writing code in C/C

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret level clearance

  • One or more of the following skillsets:

  • Knowledgeable in high assurance software, flight critical software (DO-178), ARINC standards, CMMI (3-5), hardware/software interfaces, programming of embedded processor utilizing real time operating systems (RTOS), real-time and post processing data analytics, object oriented programming and design pattern

  • Experience with object-oriented analysis and design

  • Experience in Automated testing environments

  • Knowledge of Agile software development

  • Experience using VxWorks and RTOS development

  • Experience using VectorCAST

  • Experience developing software for embedded systems

  • Automation experience

  • Python or similar scripting language experience

  • Experience in Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) / AS9100/ AS9115/ISO-1220

  • Experience developing processes and metrics for software project

  • Experience in software development planning

  • Familiarity with defense acquisition lifecycle

  • Familiarity with aircraft systems/subsystems architectures (i.e. CNI, vehicle, cockpit)

  • Familiarity with Safety/Mission Critical/Airworthiness certification criteria

  • Familiarity with Agile software development

  • Familiarity with Atlassian tool suite with add-ons (git, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, and Jira)
