Designs and plans network communications systems. Provides specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture.

Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements. Conducts testing of network design. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline with 9 years of experience.

TS/SCI clearance with CI polygraph

Perform system analysis, architecture, and integration services for Fleet Cyber Command.

Identify and perform research and analysis of alternatives (AOA), evaluation, development and test of technologies from GOTS, COTS, Academia, and Industry.

Perform Analysis of current and emerging Operational and functional Requirements for the Navy Fleet, theater and Service and Joint levels.

Analysis of Cyberspace Operations Support System capabilities and deficiencies

Perform Military Utility Assessments (MUA's) & Operational Utility Assessments (OUA's)

Understanding of the vulnerabilities, risks, safeguards, performance indicators and countermeasures related to Fleet Cyber Command and 10th Fleet.

Work well with a group of other engineers on technical projects.  Analyze all parts of a system and make sure each component is acting as it should, and how they interact with each other.  This support will include system configuration and monitoring, NiFi dataflow configurations, troubleshooting, and taking corrective actions necessary to maintain the operational readiness of DDS operations. The System Engineer (SE) will configure and maintain production and pre-production servers and systems, and when authorized, research and initiate the purchase of IT equipment, facilitate equipment transfers and identify Power, Space and Cooling (PSC) requirements. The SE will also provide User Support for NiFi to include phone and email support, optional training and outreach.  Provide hands-on system administration support as part of a team performing system maintenance and operations support of primarily Linux servers, to include services such as VMWare, VDI, DNS/DHCP, File, virus protection, application installation, and other like services. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and initial troubleshooting of Linux based systems. Team duties include performing the basic day-to-day 24/7 system administration tasks, implementing NiFi software releases, performing system upgrades, evaluating and installing patches, and resolving software-related problems associated with Linux. Provide general troubleshooting on the Client’s systems, maintain operational data and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity. Perform file and repository restores as required. Maintain all server rack elevation spreadsheets documentation. Coordinate hardware maintenance and repairs with customer when needed.
