Role and Key Responsibilities:

Peraton is currently hiring a Sr. Linux/UNIX System Administrator whose primary mission will be to assure reliable and efficient production operations of server infrastructure and the related business applications. This position will be located at Robins AFB, GA.

Critical success factors for this position will be associated technical skills and experience in Red Hat Linux and Solaris operating systems, teamwork and partnering, continual learning, driving transformation in server operation capabilities, demonstrating versatility solving problems and leading through change.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Daily maintenance and monitoring to assure server availability, integrity and performance; response and resolution to incidents; implementation of server changes and maintenance of associated standards and operational procedure documentation.

  • Provide input on design and build specifications of proposed new server and application infrastructure.

  • Conduct quality assessment and operational transition procedures to accept and operationalize newly built server infrastructure.

  • Develop and maintain written procedures, engineering drawings and other technical documentation for accuracy of operational capabilities and knowledge across the team.

  • Analyze technology requirements and specifications to determine compatibility with server and infrastructure standards.

  • Assist in the design and implementation of server infrastructure changes as needed to address system performance and capacity needs.

  • Ensure system maintenance activities are routinely executed to remain compliant with standards, security policies and to prevent system problems.

  • Lead and/or participate in the implementation or change of server infrastructure in accordance with change management policy.

  • Respond to monitoring alerts to quickly identify trouble source and implement resolution to avoid or reduce impact of an incident or outage.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of Systems Administration experience or 3 years with a Master's degree.

  • Ability to obtain Comptia Security+ certification.

  • Experience in Linux (RHEL) and UNIX (Solaris) operating systems.

  • Experience with Apache, Tomcat, and JBOSS; experience with ESX and VMware.

  • Experience with system automation/scripting (ability to script in Bash/Python/foo).

  • Experience with the hardening of servers to meet DoD accreditation requirements using Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).

  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance.

  • Ability to obtain/maintain access to work on Robins AFB.

  • Ability to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience troubleshooting Linux (RHEL 7.x) / UNIX (Solaris 11.x) operating system and application issues.

  • Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies and procedures.

In this role the candidate will: * Work extensively with Siemens Teamcenter PLM software and both custom and third-party software that integrates with it. * Create and modify Teamcenter BMIDE data models according to customer requirements. * Work with vendor support as necessary for requesting fixes or assistance implementing new functionality. * Work to configure Teamcenter as needed according to customer requirements using ACLs, preferences, custom action handlers, queries, etc. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree with 9+ years of experience, a Master's with 7+ years of experience, or a PhD with 4+ years of experience. Four Additional years of related experience is accepted in lieu of degree. * Possess a current Common Access Card (CAC), or ability to obtain a CAC. * Knowledge of software deployment, through the software lifecycle; including infrastructure design, development testing, QA testing, and production deployment. * Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) solutions. * Knowledge of technical data (for example, Tech Orders or Engineering Drawings). * Self-motivated, self-supervisory, results oriented. * Able to communicate effectively both internally with colleagues and externally with customers at the highest level. * Experience in configuring and providing customizations for Siemens Teamcenter. * General knowledge of Windows and Linux administration techniques and skills.
