Northrop Grumman Corporation's is looking to hire a Sr. Principal Systems Engineer to join the National Team, a multi-company, badge less program that provides engineering support to the Missile Defense Agency. In this role you will work with MBSE tools on a small focused team that is dedicated to ensuring functional, performance and specialty-engineering requirements for the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission are integrated appropriately at the System and Element level.
The selected Sr Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development and use of a new representation of the National Missile Defense System within a new system engineering tool, integrating it with existing requirements analysis tools, building to a new way of system engineering and functional analysis.
Perform Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) functional and behavior analysis for the defeat of conventional and advanced Threats (e.g., ballistic, aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.) systems within the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) mission area.
Participate in a MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis.
Contribute to publishing change notices to MDA's system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and DoDAF 2+ compliant based design packages to document, allocate and trace system and Element level requirements.
Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by SC&R and National Team stakeholders.
Create and present briefings within the team and to Missile Defense Agency (MDA) customer and supporting stakeholders.
Work in a multi-disciplined team of 2-4 engineers in the execution of these tasks
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced, Agile-enabled work environment with high expectations, frequent leadership communication, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all organizational levels.
9 Years with BS/STEM; 7 Years with Masters; 4 years with PHD years of technical experience in systems engineering or technical engineering in a related field(s).
Individual must demonstrate a technical background in system-modelling tools such as "Cameo", "Rhapsody", or similar tools using SysML.
Candidate must have the ability to think critically and capture concepts in papers, presentations, and contribute to technical discussions.
Possess good communication skills.
Capable of working both independently and within a small team environment.
Individual must have a current, active Secret security clearance.
Strong prior experience with use of Cameo and DOORS.
Experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.).
Knowledge of one-or-more of MDA systems or capabilities similar to: EO/IR sensors, RF/Radar sensors, kill vehicles, missiles/interceptors, threats & countermeasures, target discrimination, or command and control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.).
Knowledge of ballistic and advanced threat systems ((e.g., aero-maneuvering, hypersonic, hyper-glide, countermeasures, etc.), a discriminator in selection. Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control, C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.).
Salary Range: $114,300.00 - $171,500.00
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
