Description

Northrop Grumman's Manned Aircraft Design Center of Excellence located in Melbourne Florida has an immediate opening for an experienced engineer specializing in mechanical design. The chosen candidate will have a demonstrated ability to perform design of aircraft secondary structures.

These secondary structures include, but are not limited to, crew systems, equipment integration, and rack design. This role requires an individual with demonstrated team leadership experience and ability to perform integration activities. The experience in the procurement of aircraft hardware with related supplier management skills is also desired.

This position will be permanently located in Melbourne, FL. Some travel is required.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or a Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 9 years' experience directly related to aircraft mechanical design or a Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university with a minimum of 7 years' experience directly related to aircraft mechanical design.

Active DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering plus a Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering or Technical Management, or an MBA. Experience with NX and TeamCenter.

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Mechanical Equipment Design to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Melbourne, FL. Essential Functions: Candidate will be responsible for mechanical design and assisting a team of mechanical designers in the development of primary and secondary metal and composite structure parts and assemblies for both new and existing facilities. Candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines. Familiar with the NX-Teamcenter tool suite or similar CAD program and the ability to work with product build packages. Candidate may participate in on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites. Tasks include designing, consoles, Test Stations, equipment racks, primary and secondary structures, modifying structures and systems, design detailed parts such as brackets, etc. Responsible for the creating NX layouts and detail drawings of electrical components installations and relating support structures for end items. This position may require travel, but will be permanently located in Melbourne, Florida. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. MELENGSITEAS Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience OR * Master's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 3 years of Mechanical Engineering experience OR * PhD Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university * The ability to lead an engineering or cross-functional team * NX and Teamcenter/CPLM tool suite experience required * A current DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain program access prior to start * Must be able to obtain and maintain Special Program Access Preferred Qualifications: * Master's Degree with 3 years of Mechanical Design experience. * Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management * Proficiency with NX Solid Modelling.
