Responsibilities

  • Perform subsystem analysis, document system requirements and interfaces, with traceability to platform requirements

  • Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.

  • Perform/support design reviews, or reviews of design related documentation (ICDs, system and subsystem design documents, etc.)

  • Perform field integration, trouble-shooting and repair of communications and data link systems in military flight test environment, including operations on a flight line, in a hangar, and in command and control centers.

  • Perform SIL and flight test planning and execution, both CONUS and OCONUS.

  • Perform liaison duties to disseminate information to suppliers and other integrated product teams, such as Product Support (logistics), Air Vehicle, Avionics, Ground Segment, Test and Evaluation, Quality Assurance, Global Supply Chain, Configuration Management, and Production Operations.

  • Develop and manage to integrated schedules, manage earned value, perform risk management, and prepare status reports & briefings and other program communications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with preference in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science or Aerospace)

  • 9 years with BS; 7 years with MS; 4 years with PhD related Communications Systems development experience

  • Working knowledge of military communications technologies including: Internet Protocol (IP) networks, Voice over IP (VoIP), Information Assurance (IA), satellite and Line-of-Sight (LOS) RF communications, control interfaces, co-site interference.

  • Must have an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's in STEM with preference in Engineering (Electrical, Computer Science or Aerospace)

  • 12 years with BS; 10 years with MS; 7 years with PhD related Communications Systems development experience

  • Working knowledge of RS-422, MIL-STD-1553, and internet protocol (IP) based networks, development and test methodologies.

  • Working knowledge of US DoD Communication systems such as INMARSAT, Wide Band SATCOM, UHF SATCOM, UHF LOS, and/or Common Data Link (CDL), for supporting autonomous aircraft C2 and voice systems

  • Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work confidently in a high-pressure environment, while interacting with all levels of staff from flight-line and field technicians to executive management

  • Excellent leadership skills, be a self-starter, pay close attention to details, and have the ability to work effectively in a team-based environment.

The Embedded Systems Communications Hardware Engineer supports the COMMs IPT in a dynamic, fast-paced team environment. This position is responsible for the integration, test and maintenance of embedded communications hardware in laboratory and field settings. Working with software engineers, this engineer will be responsible for the performance, analysis, and improvements of a communication subsystem utilizing embedded hardware. The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. The candidate should be willing to work night and weekends as required to support their system during test events. Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 Years experience; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD * An active in-scope DoD Top Secret Clearance and the ability to obtain program access * Ability to travel up to 25% of the time * Ability to regularly work nights and weekends as required.
