Job Description
The Sr. Presale Systems Engineer partners closely with customers and the sales team, delivering customer-driven, world-class, leading-edge, end-to-end solutions that rise to the challenges of first responder, government, and non first responder customers within the U.S. Federal Government Civilian and Law Enforcement customer base. Working within a team of sales, service, engineering, and technical support resources, the Sr. Presale Systems Engineer is the overall owner of a solution's technical design, ensuring we meet our customers' needs.
The team concentrates on the following mission-critical communications technologies at various levels of complexity:
Public safety grade mobile voice and data networks
Advanced mobile devices
Public safety mobile broadband networks and devices (LTE)
Integrated command and control
Typical scope of responsibilities may include the following:
Customer requirements discovery
Technology strategy development
End-to-end system architecture design
Proposal development
Internal and external technical presentations
Equipment and software solution demos, including configuration and testing
The ideal candidate has the following skills and capabilities:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required, preferably Electrical or Computer Engineering
Must be a U.S. Citizen
A positive attitude with a can-do first approach that enables you to be creative, resourceful, and deliver results
Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences and makes them understandable
Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status quo
Attention to detail
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Strong general knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures - both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 3GPP 4G/5G, FirstNet/Frontline) highly desirable
Strong general knowledge of Cloud (FEDRAMP), IP networking architecture, protocols and security highly desirable
Knowledge of RF coverage predictions, microwave design, traffic/capacity modeling, and related toolsets
Ability to work in the Linthicum Heights, MD, office a minimum of 3 days a week
Travel Expected < 25%
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
