Responsible for maintaining, repairing, modifying, renovating and construction of plumbing distribution and fixtures steam distribution and heating. Performs all required inspections, testing preventative maintenance and training of personnel. Strong knowledge of NFPA 25, 70, 72, 99 and 110. Good working knowledge of State and Local codes and their application in healthcare. Ability to formulate budget requests.


1.Oversees all plumbing activity in the hospital facility and properties

2.Uses blueprints, sketches and drawings to renovate, construct and install facilities and/or equipment

3.Inspects major piping systems and sub-systems regularly and performs preventative maintenance and repairs as required in compliance with established standards and codes as related to renovation and construction work

4.Operates, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs major plumbing breakdowns such equipment as boilers, pipes, pipe fittings and fixtures and air compressors, pumps, reducing stations, traps, valves and heaters, gas and oxygen lines in areas that are renovated and construction work

5.Assists in general maintenance of buildings and grounds as directed.

6.May monitor the Energy Management Systems program.

7.Assists in the maintaining for the parts and supply inventory for plant equipment and reports supply requirements.

8.Provide technical guidance and direction to maintenance staff.

9.Performs other related duties as assigned.

  1. Perform water treatment program to central energy plant.

  2. Repair kitchen equipment.

  3. Repair and service ice machines.

  4. Perform preventative maintenance on medical air, medical suction and medical gas systems.


Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in-writing.

Skill and ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines.

Ability to work as a member of a team.

Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.

Good working knowledge of wet/dry sprinkler systems.


High School Diploma or Equivalent.


Five (5) years experience as plumber.


Journeyman or Georgia State Masters Plumbing License (Non-Restricted or Restricted)


Cert: Backflow prevention (American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE), American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA), Training, Research, Education, Environmental Occupation (TREEO from University of Florida).

Valid Georgia driver's license & adhere to Piedmont's Healthcare Vehicle Safety Program policy 3500 criteria preferred. MVR will be conducted.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Patient Services, the Director will have oversight of perioperative services to include Pre-Op, Operating Room, PACU, Preadmission Testing, Central Sterile & Outpatient Surgery. With 4 direct reports and 200 indirect reports, the Director will be responsible for staffing, strategic financial planning as well as policy-making. We are a Level 2 Trauma center with 17 OR rooms. We are also the official healthcare provider for UGA Athletics! We are proud of our cutting edge approach to surgery which includes an impressive robotics team. We are honored to perform surgeries ranging from open heart, total replacements, and also cardiothoracic operations. JOB PURPOSE: Responsible for assuming administrative responsibility for all areas/functions of the Perioperative Services Division on a 24/7 basis including, but not limited to, pre-procedure testing, Pre-Op, Main OR, Ambulatory and Minor Surgery, PACU, GI Lab, Sterile Processing, and Central Service. Develops policies and procedures as well as the quality improvement programs for areas of responsibility. Develops the capital and operating budgets for Perioperative Services Division. Ensures areas of responsibility are appropriately staffed, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Ensures safe staffing needs are consistently met using workload measurement data and clinical judgment. 2. Develops budgets for assigned areas and ensures cost effective and cost efficient use of resources. 3. Provides direction and input regarding equipment/supply needs, renovations, and environmental issues in preparation of operating and capital equipment budgets. 4. Leads departmental strategic planning and policy-making and engages in decision-making through membership on hospital and departmental committees. 5. Promotes communication among patients, families, hospital departments, and medical staff to optimize the interdependence of all team members. 6. Coordinates the needs of physicians and acts as liaison between the medical staff and the nursing staff by serving as a problem solver and mediator. 7. Supports the development and sustainment of Shared Governance and its functions related to Nursing Evaluation, Peer Review, Policy/Procedures, and Standards of Nursing Practice. 8. Serves as a clinical resource contact for patients, families, nursing staff, other health care members and external agencies. 9. Ensures unit orientation programs meet learning needs of new employees and prepare staff to fulfill requirements of position. 10. Provides for, and coordinates, unit-based educational programs. 11. Assesses staff needs for supervision, resources, and direction. 12. Identifies clinical and professional educational needs to promote staff development and mentors staff to identify personal learning needs. 13. Evaluates the quality of patient care provided in assigned areas through collaboration with department, hospital and corporate resources. 14. Assures policies and procedures are in compliance with those of the hospital, health system, division of nursing, and all regulatory agencies. 15. Directs human resources responsibilities for staff, including interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, compensation changes, resolution of employee concerns, corrective actions, terminations, and overall employee morale. #GD IND123 IND456 MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Masters Degree. Applicants with Bachelors Degree with two or more years of Surgical Director experience, including business development will be considered. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least one year of surgical services management experience. Two years recent clinical experience in area of clinical specialty. MINIMUM LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW: Current Georgia licensure as a Registered Nurse. Current BCLS certification.
