NXP ECHO FAB (Chandler, Arizona) is looking for qualified individuals to be part of the growing team that will provide the next level of 5G/6G wireless communications across the world!

Job Summary:

The SENIOR PLASMA ETCH Process Engineer is responsible for multiple processes for our new GaN on SiC wafer fab. Engineer will be responsible for identifying and reducing sources of variation, implementing zero defect processes, and supporting development of new processes and future technologies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reducing defectivity/scrap

  • Improving tool utilization and availability

  • Process development and optimization

  • Identification and reduction of recurrent machine faults

  • Supporting development activities

  • Developing and writing specifications

  • Reducing cycle-time

  • Actively communicating with vendors

  • Implementation of Six-Sigma statistical process control methods

  • Participating in and/or leading cross-functional root cause problem solving teams

Qualifications:

  • BS or higher in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or another technical field.

  • At least 5 years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing supporting plasma etch processes and equipment.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an Export Control Clearance.

  • Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret equipment and process performance data and produce a timely action plan to resolve recurring failures.

  • Demonstrated presentation skills. Candidate will be called upon to train others and present complex datasets and process problems/ solutions to diverse audiences.

  • Competent in troubleshooting problems and capable of applying logic to isolate and repair them.

  • Ability to deal with multiple issues and shifting priorities.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to interact effectively with multiple disciplines in a 24x7 manufacturing facility.

  • Good foundational problem-solving skills with creative solutions and out-of-the-box thinking.

  • Self-motivated; able to take initiative and effectively prioritize work for self.

  • A strong desire to help create a positive, winning, world class working environment.

  • Previous experience in Six-Sigma/Lean Manufacturing methods is highly desirable.

  • Safety minded approach and work habit.

  • Quality minded approach and work habit.

Highly Desirable Skills/Experiences:

  • Previous dry etch experience in compound semiconductors and/or general process knowledge of GaN/SiC RF device manufacturing.

  • Proven ability to provide plasma etch solutions to new integrations/devices/stacks/materials. Strong understanding of the interdependencies of process and equipment optimizing both for manufacturability.

  • Past experiences collaborating/driving supplier improvements to develop robust hardware and processes.

  • Expertise maturing new processes, tools or equipment from assessment to well characterized manufacturing production release.

  • Application of lab characterization techniques (SEM, TEM, VPD) to control and characterize etch processes/equipment.

  • Designing experiments (DOE) with statistical analysis in order to drive to target results.

  • Experience with Plasmatherm Versaline Etch Equipment.

  • Experience with post etch treatments (wet strip/ash) for removal of veil/polymer.

  • Familiar with production MES and engineering software systems such as JMP, FDC (FabGuard), SPC, PROMIS, et. al.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities influencing other engineers in problem solving, communication of quality excursions, providing alternate integration paths, and manufacturing improvements.
