Operates, monitors, maintains and replaces electrical equipment and devices related hospital physical plant equipment, throughout the health system, at a high level of reliability and efficiency, while assuring compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. This position is responsible for a broad spectrum of electrical equipment including; distribution, lighting, motors, switches, starters, control relays and other electric control circuitry.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school or vocational school graduate, or equivalent.

Holds at minimum a current E1 or E2 Connecticut trade license and minimum of 5 years trade related experience.

Knowledgeable in electrical distribution, troubleshooting distribution and component level equipment, abides by safe electrical practices.

Understanding of physical plant systems, including electrical, side of HVAC, steam, chilled water and plumbing.

Strong problem solving skills.

Qualified to work on equipment voltage up to 480 VAC.

Ability to work with others of similar and other trades both hospital plant operations group and outside contractors.

Ability to work with minimal supervision, strong problem solving and communication skills.


  • Comprehensive knowledge of electrical distribution.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics

  • Excellent troubleshooting and electrical diagnostic skills

  • Provide assistance to other department tradesmen and technician as needed.

  • Maintain documentation as required for regulatory and institution purposes.

  • Maintain appropriate spare parts.

We are looking for a 3rd Shift Plant Protection Officer to join our Middletown, CT location. Job Duties: The employee selected for this position will have the following responsibilities: * Perform a variety of routine and non-routine security, fire prevention, medical and related activities at Pratt & Whitney, Middletown Facility and to protect Company property and its human resources. * Control and extinguish incipient fires, protect life and property, maintain equipment. * Perform identification duties. * Expected to coordinate emergency/fire/security/medical responses with the South District Fire Department. * Typical Duties: Protective Services Officers at the Middletown facility may be expected to perform the following duties: * Screen and control employees, visitors and vehicles to prohibit unauthorized persons from entering Company property and inspect items to prevent contraband being brought in, or Company property being removed from the premises. Ensure all material being removed from the facility is accompanied by the proper authorization. * Make regular, recorded inspection tours of Company property, being alert to suspicious or unauthorized activity, hazardous conditions, assuring security and fire protection functions are intact. Write reports describing all violations, irregularities or complaints noted. * Issue identification badges, passbooks and maintain rosters of contractors. * Respond to emergencies of a fire, security/ medical/ Haz-Mat nature. * Operate Company vehicles and other powered industrial vehicles. * May perform a variety of other protective services-related duties, as assigned. * Basic Qualifications: * Firefighter I certified (or equivalent), Medical Response Technician (MRT) certified. * Preferred Qualifications: * Firefighter I certified * Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) * Hazardous Material Operational certified * State of Connecticut 2Q licensing for fire apparatus or CDL licensing with air brake certification and dispatching experience United Technologies Corporation is An Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
