Overview

Sunrun's team is looking for an Account Manager to lead one of our largest growing segments of the business. As an Account Manager, you will be expected to not only build a productive bridge between Sunrun and its partners but will also be expected to maximize performance and revenue based on the overall strategic goals that have been defined.

The role demands a highly driven, results oriented, collaborative thinker with strong analytical, quantitative, business planning, project management, and strategic selling skills. The right candidate must bring excellent communication skills (written and verbal), a track record of high achievement, a solution-oriented approach, and a customer centric mentality. This role requires a proven ability to build and lead a sales and growth plan; align parties around common financial and strategic goals; gather cross-functional support and prioritization; and build strong external relationships.

The position will be located in Hawaii and the travel associated with this role is approximately 25%.

Responsibilities

  • Define, articulate, socialize, and drive execution for partner channel strategy. Execute in conjunction with VP of partners.

  • Own recruitment of new partners from strategy, prospecting, reach out, negotiation, documentation, and execution. Drive execution in line with strategy as referenced in prior point

  • Deliver results in a partner management capacity. This includes a) executing to core partner management functions as an account rep. / manager; b) identifying, articulating, socializing, and catalyzing process improvements (this is execution meets strategy)

  • Executive Account Management: Gain excellent understanding of the partners, its key corporate strategies and initiatives, its approach and style of service provider / vendor management, and its dynamic priorities as it relates to our business category. Maintain strong relationship with main contact at the partner hile identifying opportunities to build top-to-top relationships between Sunrun and these partners. Engage relationship management, selling, and negotiation skills at various points in time. Continue to strengthen Sunrun's positioning and story vis a vis competitor solar providers.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop short and long term strategic growth plans and forecasts for partners in coordination with team and cross-functional colleagues to address account needs. Develop and sell in annual calendars and growth targets.

  • Business and Revenue Management: Actively and aggressively manage partner business, with a focus on productivity, expansion, customer experience, and product differentiation. Drive and report business results around sales, revenue, and profitability.

  • Profitability Maximization: Understand the key levers of customer profitability and drive strategies to maximize that profitability across the partner customer acquisition experience, leveraging economics, sales improvements, product or geographic mix, or other profit levers to maximize the partner's profitability and productivity through Sunrun.

  • Category Growth and Expansion: Work with partner to identify new products and features based on proactive market and field research on end customer needs, expectations, and trends. Expand portfolio with partners into new markets.

  • Internal Project Management: Sell key initiatives to internal Sunrun stakeholders (business and technical) to galvanize necessary support and resourcing from those that influence and assist with account strategy execution. Project manage initiatives to ensure stellar execution.

  • Business Development: Proactively and opportunistically source engagement and pilot opportunities with additional partners that fit Sunrun's mission and customer demographic.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (MBA preferred)

  • 5-7 years' experience in Strategic Account Management, Business Development, B2B Sales

  • Experience in the solar industry a plus

  • Able to collaborate and present at all levels of the organization up to C-Suite

  • Demonstrated success with strategic selling, partner relationship management, and negotiations

  • Focused on driving strong financial results, with the analytical rigor to plan and execute against quantitative goals

  • Excellent project management and communication skills; both verbal and written

  • Able to lead key initiatives using core project management fundamentals

  • Developing positive work relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Very strong team player with a track record of cross-functional collaboration

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to perform normal office duties

  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work

  • Ability to interact and participate in meetings
