Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with various suppliers and be an expert on their manufacturing capabilities

  • Work closely with Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, Regional Stakeholders, Account Managers and Product Development

  • Conception, specification, design, manufacture and testing of packaging and new packaging solutions.

  • Responsible for full product packaging life cycle development, and creation of packaging solutions including conceptual design, process development, process deployment, process validation, continuous improvement, continuing production support and supplier development as well as the packaging, shipping and transportation testing required for packaging.

  • Development and management of Packaging Procedures; develop design rules and guidelines considering product line, performance, cost, and reliability

  • Develop advanced packaging designs from concept to final release including CAD documentation

  • Create and maintain component specifications for all primary, secondary and tertiary packaging and develop, conduct and analyze the testing of this packaging.

  • Updating bills of material with necessary packaging information

  • Lead structural concept presentations for stakeholders

  • Partner with project stakeholders to develop packaging concepts for multiple product lines

  • Work with Packaging Project Managers to review project schedules and status

  • Work with cross-functional team members to drive packaging decisions

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required, Mechanical or Packaging engineering preferred.

  • Minimum six years of packaging engineering or packaging project experience including CAD experience

  • Minimum of three years of experience in retail and/or secondary/protective packaging design and development

  • Minimum of three years of experience in creative and innovative mechanical design
