Sr Operations Risk Controls Consultant 2870

This role is a team member of the RIS Operational Controls and Projects Team located in Tampa aligned to the Retirement and Income Solutions (RIS) business. This position oversees all potential fraud investigations and reporting along with ensuring the proper control environment is in place to drive a consistent and effective operational approach across all RIS Operations supported businesses (US Pensions, Structured Settlements, Income Annuities) and partners closely with US Risk, GTO Risk, Audit and Compliance to maintain consistent reporting standards and approach to mitigate risk.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline the Fraud Oversight Program, while enhancing the risk management processes

• Gain insight into risks associated with operational and enterprise fraud policies and develop enhanced control capabilities

• Conduct thorough analysis of cases to reach a final decision and monitor and report on activities to pinpoint significant trends

• Collaborate with the RIS Operations and Service teams to ensure the implementation or improvement of controls in their respective areas in order to address and manage relevant risks.

• Collaborate with Internal/External Audit partners and relevant business partners to remediate audit identified issues. Ensure issue identification, root cause analysis and resolution.

• Identifies any trends and work with the leadership team to analyze and apply corrective action.

• Act as audit, compliance, privacy, and risk liaison to coordinate requests from internal and external audit and compliance reviews.

• Track and manage regulatory change management deliverables, supporting documentation requests, and meetings.

• Own the operational risk management support in identification, management and resolution of risks and issues aligned the organization and enterprise.

• Facilitates appropriate coordination, oversight and cascading of certain policy or regulatory considerations and execution within RIS Operations.

• Appropriately assess risk when business/operational decisions are made, demonstrating consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding MetLife, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to policy, applying sound ethical judgment as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.

Education

• Required: Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience

Qualification and Competencies

• Self-driven with a passion for developing and driving risk best practices that produce value-add results

• Working knowledge of the financial services/retirement/insurance industry, RIS operational transactions and processes supported (preferred, not required)

• Familiarity with execution of first line of defense review/ or operational risk testing and risk management principles

• Knowledge in testing, evaluating the adequacy of internal controls design and operating effectiveness

• Able to understand regulations and requirements; strong understanding of risks and controls

• Willingness to adapt and respond appropriately to demands, priorities and challenges

• Strong attention to detail, analysis and problem resolving skills

• Independent and able to lead projects, tasks, etc

• Excellent organization, presentation, project management, and written and oral skills

• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively; work independently; use good judgement

• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office tools to include Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Powerpoint

The salary range for applicants for this position is 95,000 - 119,000.
