Networking and Systems professional to work in strategy development, architectures and services implementation of KVHs suite of mobile satellite data products/services and worldwide data networks. This role requires extensive knowledge of switching, routing, firewalls, VPNs, virtualization technologies, network management systems and tools.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work with KVH product & services management and network engineering to define, design, prototype, and productive service supporting back-ends, customer facing value added services and enhanced product features.
Work with KVH network engineering and operations in design and build out of new global terrestrial, satellite, and other wireless networks supporting Internet and enterprise connectivity and value added services.
Champion changes and enhancements to offered services for customer support and value.
Evaluate available COTS products and open source capabilities, recommend designs/solutions, and work through implementation with operations, engineering, vendors and partners.
Support technical evaluations/pilots of new and enhanced data products/services and customer specific designs.
Develop documentation to support purchase requisitions, roll-out, training, and transition to operations.
Configure, deploy, maintain, and upgrade networks/systems as needed and operationalize the systems considering monitoring, Tier1 NOC tasks, data/config backup, availability, and disaster recovery.
Technical Degree in applicable field required; BS in Engineering or Information Technology Desired; Equivalent experience will also be considered.
In depth knowledge of TCP/IP, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, 802.1q trunking, IPSec, OpenVPN and SW client based VPNs, and Internet architectures, issues and services required.
Recent hands on configuration experience with switches, routers, firewalls/UTM devices, and other LAN/WAN data communications devices required
Expert level Cisco switching/routing experience required. Experience with application level traffic shapers and Palo Alto firewalls desired VMWare ESXi and vCenter experience required. iSCSI, SAN and VM H/A experience preferred.
Expert system level Linux skills and experience with Linux based network management systems and tools required.
Working knowledge of VoIP (SIP) service design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
Knowledge of satellite Internet systems, VSATs, WAN optimization, and Mobile Satellite Systems (MSS) desired.
Excellent written and verbal communications; willing to fully document designs and train NOC Operators.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally ~10% of time.
Self-motivated, self-managed with a desire to work in Hands on environment and own their designs.
