Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer is a highly skilled professional responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and supporting complex network infrastructures. This role involves a deep understanding of networking technologies, protocols, and systems to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of our private and public data centers.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities for the Senior Network Engineer can vary, but should include:

  • Network design and implementation.

  • Network Management and Maintenance.

  • Escalated support and troubleshooting.

  • Network Diagrams and other documentation.

  • Support the company journey of moving to modern cloud operations.

  • Stay current on applicable industry trends and integrated technologies.

  • Conduct necessary analysis, design, and prepare technical documentation and runbooks for new toolsets and processes.

  • Cultivate strong working relationships with scrum teams, engineers, architects, vendors, contractors, and leadership.

  • Leverage, support, and advocate the use of configuration management tools for infrastructure in a hybrid cloud model.

  • Align system capabilities to overall solution and business strategy.

  • IT Service Management fulfiller including incident, problem, and change.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Proficiency in networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, etc)

  • Knowledge of network security practices and tools (VPN, IDS/IPS)

  • Experience with network hardware (routers/switches/firewalls, vendors like cisco, palo alto, etc)

  • Creating and maintaining documentation to support policies, procedures, and runbooks.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Automation and scripting of Network implementations.

  • Experience designing large-scale distributed systems.

  • Capacity Planning of LAN / WAN / Cloud network solutions.

  • Root cause analysis that can be presented to technical and Executive audiences.

  • Network security attack mitigation.

  • Monitoring tools experience (PRTG, Solarwinds, etc)

  • NetScaler / Load balancers Cloud and Virtual.

  • Management of DNS and Certificates with proper documentation.

  • Inventory management of all network devices.

  • Experience migrating network environments to Azure or (comparable cloud platforms).

BUSINESS ACUMEN

  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills.

  • Strong customer focus, ownership, bias for action and the ability to dive deep.

  • Experience with Healthcare industry HIPAA regulations (similar regulated industry experience considered i.e., PCI, SOX, Hi TRUST)

  • Monitoring definitions of what is required to meet required SLA requirements.

CERTIFICATION / TRAINING

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or related (equivalent experience considered).

  • Candidates with relevant certifications are preferred, including but not limited to the following:

  • Cisco, Palo Alto and NetScaler certifications

  • Microsoft: Azure Administrator, Azure DevOps Engineer, Azure Architect, MCSE

  • ITIL Foundations
