DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and leads projects with technical staff in the implementation, installation, configuration, and technical support of network architecture.
Develops and maintains system documentation, including diagrams, standard operating procedures and work instructions including providing analysis on current and projected workloads as basis for long-range capacity planning.
Sustain carrier class consistency, predictability and stability of all network devices and services supported by EPB.
Leads teams that design, implement, and manage EPB's residential and commercial broadband services.
Directs and performs all necessary audits and maintenance activity to ensure service levels are sustained, and that systems are optimized and not compromised.
Perform after hours support duties to sustain networking systems and service levels 24/7/365.
Leads projects for other engineers in Telecom, Systems, Video, etc.
Provides technical assistance to customers, field services, and other engineers over the phone and/or onsite meetings.
Provides technical expertise to the Sales department, Field Services, and Network Operations.
Coordinates projects with other departments and external organizations.
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in a related technical field is preferred or an equivalent 8-10 years of experience in Networking is preferred.
Industry certifications related to Networking is highly desired.
Must have experience with:
Routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, MPLS
Packet capture and analysis using Wireshark or similar tools
Experience with Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia 750 is a plus.
Experience with Juniper is a plus.
Experience with VoIP is a plus.
Experience with multicast IP video is a plus.
Must have detail-oriented skills used to manage complex systems; excellent interpersonal, written, verbal, presentation, and time management skills.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Fast paced and heavy workload to be expected and must continually meet deadlines. After hours and weekends will be needed for emergency situations; also maintenance activities and on-call will be needed. Will require sitting, typing, communicating, walking, and long hours.
