Job Description:

The Whole Life Engineering Directorate (WLED) is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems design and test throughout their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability, safety and economical ownership by the customer and end user. The WLED is seeking a candidate with strong analytical and interpersonal skills and experience to join our team. The candidate will be an integral part of the Whole Life Engineering team as a Senior Multi-disciplined engineer, interfacing with Raytheon Multi-Functional Radio Frequency System (MFRFS) Programs' leads and customer program staff. The MFRFS product line executes in a fast pace, spiral development environment that specifies, designs, implements, tests and fields radar technology for our customers that meet warfighter needs.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Reviewing design changes from a Whole Life Engineering perspective, which may include but not limited to identifying any potential safety and human machine interface impacts

  • Generating updates to system safety analyses and reliability models (such as predictions, part stress analyses and part derating)

  • Providing support to reporting WLE activities to Program Management, Program

Engineering and Control Account Manager (CAM)

  • Providing engineering support to MFRFS Programs for design development, production and sustainment activities

  • Shaping the requirements for future MFRFS business and growth to include participation in proposals

Required Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience performing System Safety analyses for hardware, software and occupational hazard assessments.

  • Experience in development of technical and cost proposals

  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Desired Skills:

  • 6+ years of experience performing System Safety analyses for hardware, software and occupational hazard assessments, fault tree analyses in accordance with MIL-STD-882E and JSSSEH

  • Experience generating or updating customer delivered technical documentation

  • Experience with developing system and box level requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of engineering, program management, and the customer

  • Experience performing Reliability analyses (e.g., reliability predictions, part stress analyses, part derating, tin whisker assessment, part obsolescence, etc)

  • Experience with performing WLE tasks in all program life cycles (e.g., Proposal, Development, Production and Sustainment)

  • Experience performing Maintainability analyses, such as Time to Repair and Mean Time to Repair

  • Familiarity with Human Machine Interface design during operation and maintenance and Testability Analyses (e.g., test coverage for fault detection/isolation)

  • Understanding of MIL-STD-1472

  • Experience with Earned Value Management

  • Experience with or understanding of software safety analyses and the SW/FW development life cycle

  • Experience with presenting safety program to US Army Safety Boards (i.e., SSSTRP and WSESRB)

  • Ability to use Microsoft Access databases

Required Education (including Major):

  • BS/BA in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM). 8 years of applicable experience can be considered in lieu of a BS/BA (2 years of applicable experience equals 1 year of college)

Provide education and knowledge on the use of quality tools in the administration of the Quality System. Apply quality engineering skills to develop and deploy effective and efficient methods for verifying and accepting processes and products, including the use of quantitative and qualitative tools. The Hardware Quality Engineer will use analytical tools and methods to: improve product design; minimize inspection; solve fabrication problems; complete such specialized quality functions as data preparation, analyses, and reporting; develop techniques and methods; support process improvements; complete special investigations and audits; take preventative and corrective actions; audit manufacturing and test data for Quality System requirements; support design reviews to insure that quality is engineered into the product; and develop product acceptance techniques and plans. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with the McKinney Consolidated Manufacturing Center (CMC) Value Streams to ensure compliance to documented processes, procedures and support the depot operations to deliver Multi-spectral Targeting Systems (MTS) to our customers. This position will be assigned to the Mission Support Value Stream in support of the repair, upgrade, inspection, test and delivery of MTS products. This Hardware Quality Engineer (HQE) position will be responsible for supporting the factory's goals by performing the various tasks below. The individual will work closely with cross-functional counterparts in Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing. Additionally, the HQE will coordinate the various Quality Engineering functions (Program, Software, Supplier, and Material) to support the CMC. Key Hardware Quality responsibilities may include: * Establish the implications of disassembly during rework or repair activities. * Perform first article inspection (FAI). * Assure special test equipment (STE) and tooling comply with approved assembly and tooling drawings, assembly instructions, test procedures and metrology requirements. * Perform lab and/or manufacturing center audits to verify product safety requirements are adhered to throughout build and test, including electrostatic discharge (ESD), foreign object damage (FOD), critical lifts and storage. * Manage dropped and damaged hardware processing and incident reporting. * Assure identification and segregation of all out-of-tolerance equipment and tooling, and assure investigation into product impact.
