FCM is a full-service, FNMA, HUD and VA approved national mortgage lending firm headquartered in Houston, Texas for over 25 years with locations in several states. We specialize in partnering with home builders as well as retail production.

FCM and/or its Affiliates is currently seeking highly motivated, qualified individuals to fulfill the role of Sr. Mortgage Loan Underwriter.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties:

  • Underwrite FHA, VA, Conventional conforming and Conventional non-conforming mortgage loans following company, investor, and government standards

  • Evaluate the credit history, employment history, and financial status of mortgage loan files to determine credit worthiness in compliance with the guideline requirements

  • Analyze loan documentation such as credit reports, verifications of employment, paystubs, verifications of deposit, tax returns, bank statements, appraisals, and all other supporting documentation provided.

  • Insure compliance with federal agencies including FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, and VA

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Senior level Underwriter with a minimum 5 years experience underwriting FHA/VA/Conventional conforming and non-conforming mortgage loans

  • DE/VA LAPP designations required

  • Knowledgeable in investor overlay and researching such guidelines

  • Excellent appraisal analysis skills

  • Knowledge of current FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, VA, and investor guidelines

As such, this position requires compliance with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and all related regulations. Ongoing employment is contingent upon meeting all such requirements, including acceptable background investigation results. Individuals in a SAFE position also must meet the Loan Originator requirements under Regulation Z (LO) outlined in the job expectations below. Required Qualifications * 5+ years of underwriting experience Desired Qualifications * Basic Microsoft Office skills * Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy * Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills * Ability to interact with all levels of an organization * Knowledge and understanding of underwriting: complex conventional transactions * Experience with underwriting policies and procedures such as risk-layering and asset evaluation * Experience analyzing business or personal financial statements and tax returns * Mortgage underwriting exposure; preferably within Wells Fargo * Experience meeting high production and quality standards in a fast paced, development and production support environment * Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment Job Expectations * This position requires SAFE registration at the time of employment.
