FCM and/or its Affiliates is currently seeking highly motivated, qualified individuals to fulfill the role of Sr. Mortgage Loan Underwriter.



  • Underwrite FHA, VA, Conventional conforming and Conventional non-conforming mortgage loans following company, investor, and government standards

  • Evaluate the credit history, employment history, and financial status of mortgage loan files to determine credit worthiness in compliance with the guideline requirements

  • Analyze loan documentation such as credit reports, verifications of employment, paystubs, verifications of deposit, tax returns, bank statements, appraisals, and all other supporting documentation provided.

  • Insure compliance with federal agencies including FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, and VA

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • Senior level Underwriter with a minimum 5 years experience underwriting FHA/VA/Conventional conforming and non-conforming mortgage loans

  • DE/VA LAPP designations required

  • Knowledgeable in investor overlay and researching such guidelines

  • Excellent appraisal analysis skills

  • Knowledge of current FNMA, FHLMC, HUD, VA, and investor guidelines

Generate mortgage loans through external marketing activities with builders, realtors, the real estate community and the homebuying public. Build loyalty and increase customer profitability by providing exceptional service and subject matter expertise. Key Accountabilities: Generate new mortgage loan opportunities by: * Actively promoting mortgage loan programs within the community; * Participating in local real estate related organizations and developing Centers of Influence within the community; and developing and executing a targeted marketing effort to increase customer penetration. * Initiate, analyze and recommend mortgage loans for approval through available loan programs by: * Developing leads through networking and marketing efforts. * Interviewing applicants to develop financial and credit information; * Analyzing and evaluating customer needs and recommending appropriate financing; * Completing the loan application with necessary information and documentation; and, * Researching and recommending appropriate programs and terms and insuring the availability of the terms by completing applicable lock procedures. * Insure compliance with mortgage loan origination regulations and guidelines including Reg B, Reg C, Reg X, Reg Z, Privacy and CIP regulations. * Establish relationships with customers and is the primary contact during the mortgage process. Maximize customer value through appropriate referrals to other bank partners. * Participate actively in the bank's marketing program, community involvement projects and real estate financing organizations. * Participate in promotional events as a creator, presenter or marketer to promote bank mortgage loan products. * Register and maintain registry as a Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO) with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) and Registry and in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the S.A.F.E. Act). * Meet and maintain financial responsibility, character and general fitness standards along with all other established requirements for an individual Loan Originator (LO) in accordance with Regulation Z. * Assume other duties as assigned. Work Experience Requirements: * 3 years lending and/or real estate, title company, legal experience required * Prior Business Development experience preferred * Familiar with mortgage regulatory compliance. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Experience with mortgage loan origination software such as Calyx Point, Encompass and Mortgagebot. * Experience with automated underwriting services such as FNMA Desktop Underwriter a plus. * Bilingual - English and Spanish, with written, verbal, and interpersonal skills in Spanish is a plus.
