Mechanical Subsystems Directorate has an opportunity for an independent and high energy Senior Program Area Lead (PAL) whose responsibilities will include:
Establishing front line MSD LT for assigned programs with DM and other PALs
Responsible for technical integrity of MSD team of > 200.
Senior leadership across MSD technical team balancing available MSD resources (available internal and external engineers, facilities) across multiple programs to meet RMS priorities and program commitments.
Acting as trusted agent for the PLCE to ensure timely program execution throughout the product lifecycle; lead FRBs/FITs, providing risk assessments, solutions and mitigation options to issues, and enabling technical rigor that drives product affordability, quality, and delivered performance.
Self-initiate engagement of the assigned PL Department Manager and PALs into critical issues partnering with the PLCE, Chief Engineers, IPTs and other stakeholders.
Balancing technical rigor with reasonable technical, schedule and cost risk within program constraints in planning and identifying resources at the PLCE and MSD level.
Ability to direct and lead others to complete tasks as opposed to solving problems individually.
Ability to present explicit and appropriate level of details to senior customer and RMS leadership.
Instilling ownership among program teams to develop and execute knowledge point (KP) based plans to help the team drive critical issues to closure, as well as mitigating issues pro-actively prior to production stops and / or schedule slips.
Partnering with Engineering Chief Technologists and PALS in identifying systemic issues across the organization, developing strategies, and executing directorate initiatives to avoid repeat issues.
Member of the Center Director's Leadership team in developing strategy and tactics.
12 years of experience across the product life cycle including development, critical design, integration & qualification, manufacturing and production support activities, including leadership roles with strong technical and management background
Excellent proactive problem solving experience and critical thinking skills.
Excellent and succinct communication ability in verbal, written and presentation formats; ability to understand and present appropriate information at the appropriate level of leadership.
Experience as a 'system' level engineer on RMS programs through coordination of cross discipline design, analysis and test of hardware.
Ability to see the big picture and become a change agent for the organization striving to improve ownership across all program phases.
Proactive problem solving experience in both hard and soft arenas
Ability to influence others to achieve technical and programmatic goals
FRACAS, Failure Review Board (FRB) and/or Failure Investigation Team (FIT) experience
Team thinker, player and builder
Required Education (including Major):
B.S./B.A in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or related engineering degree
M.S. or PHD in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or related degree
Must have an existing DoD issued Secret Security clearance
