Sr. Mechanical Lab Technician

Nova Biomedical is hiring a Sr. Mechanical Lab Technician in our Waltham, MA facility (7:00 AM - 4:00 PM). Under direct supervision of a Senior Mechanical Engineer or Principal Mechanical Engineer, the Sr. Mechanical Lab Technician will perform mechanical engineering tasks of a basic degree of complexity. The work involves the application of basic engineering principles to perform routine design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of mechanical and electromechanical components or systems. The technician will also assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for assignments of basic difficulty where a technical supervisor provides an outline of tasks to be performed and suggestions as to methods of approach and procedures to be followed. The Sr. Mechanical Lab Technician conducts analyses or tests of routine complexity that pertain to the development of new designs, methods, and materials/processes and provides recommendations accordingly. Other responsibilities include:

• Design of basic electromechanical systems under the supervision of a Principal or Senior Engineer.

• Electromechanical support and troubleshooting of Breadboard and Developmental units.

• Basic mechanical design and the creation of parts and assemblies using Solid Modeling software.

• Attend Design Reviews of the various assemblies and subassemblies that they are responsible for.

• Implementation of System Verification and Validation Test Protocols.

• Execution of approved protocols and the generation of Test Reports.

• Use and troubleshooting of 3D Printer

Qualifications/Skills and Competencies:

• Proficiency with hands-on work on mechanical or electronic systems. This includes the use of hand tools, basic troubleshooting experience, soldering experience is desirable but not required.

• Solid Modeling experience is desirable.

• Knowledge of 3D Printers Objet Prime, Fortus 400 or 450 is a plus

Education/Experience:

• A.S. degree in mechanical engineering and 5-10 years of relevant experience or High School diploma and 10+ years of relevant experience.
