To provide technical engineering support including prototype build, testing and development of mechanical subsystems within a larger product development program.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Apply mechanical engineering methods and manufacturing process requirements to design mechanical components, mechanisms and assemblies

  • Work with industrial designers, other mechanical engineers and cross functional teams to design and develop new products

  • Working with CAD staff, generate detailed designs and component manufacturing drawings

  • Liaise with workshop technicians to produce mechanical components

  • Construct prototypes and perform mechanical and functional testing

  • Generate technical documents including design descriptions and test plans and reports in support of project outcomes

  • Assist in estimating for project mechanical effort

  • Other tasks and projects as required

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Bachelor's Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 5 years relevant experience developing complex electro-mechanical devices

  • Excellent and innate mechanical engineering aptitude

  • Superior problem diagnosis & solving skills

  • Experience with a variety of manufacturing methods and working with suppliers

  • Experience working within a quality system

  • Attention to detail

  • Positive, self-motivated disposition and personal accountability

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Solidworks CAD experience is a valuable addition

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Apply basic technical knowledge to analyze, investigate and resolve assigned routine engineering problems. * Supporting multiple EMS product lines. * Performs functional testing of equipment and systems by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles. * Responsible for analysis and design. * Work closely with system engineering group to understand customer requirements and provide updates to project staff. * Responsible to review of technical documents including design reviews, system changes and status updates. * Performing brief technical presentations to project staff. * Support component selection, root-cause failure analysis, requirement verifications and developing design changes for each system including generation of procedures, work instructions and reports. * Develops appropriate documentation of findings and implemented solutions, and communicates results to project engineering staff. May be required to make technical presentations to project staff. * May provide direction to design staff or technicians. * Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information. * Performs other duties as assigned or required. Job Qualifications * Typically requires a bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
