A Sr. Mechanical Engineer Aerial Refueling Equipment (Contract) job in Davenport, IA is available through Belcan.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Participates in designing and conducting analyses of mechanical aerospace & refueling products; includes performing static and kinematic calculations for sizing and function of mechanical components, generating and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics, and optimizing component performance.

Works within team to develop predictive component and product performance models.

Evaluates mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electromechanical components for compliance to customer and regulatory requirements

Develops test plans to verify models for component and product characteristics.

Self-starter that works with others to meet technical, cost, schedule, and other program requirements.

Works closely with suppliers on component and product development.

Interfaces with customers as part of development team programs.

This position will support activities to prepare for and close Critical Design Review (CDR), prepare engineering drawings for procurement, initial builds and testing of aerial refueling fuel system components and installations.


Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering (Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace) or related technical field.
5+ years post graduate engineering experience with design and definition of aircraft mechanical or similar components, equipment, and installations.

Must demonstrate previous aircraft development experience in design, sizing, and specifying aircraft mechanical, hydraulic, and/or electromechanical systems or components.

Must demonstrate ability in engineering design solutions compliant to customer and regulatory requirements for aircraft fuel or structural components or systems

Due to export compliance, must be a U.S. Citizen or lawful U.S. Permanent Resident
10+ years engineering experience with design and definition of aerospace or similar components, equipment, and installations

Experience with requirement compliance matrices and/or requirement verification matrices

Experience in writing test plans, procedures and reports.

Experience in conducting root cause analysis.

Desire to become an expert in aerospace component design and analysis.

Knowledge of ProEngineer/Creo

The Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer will provide support and leadership to plantwide manufacturing and process areas. The Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer will lead major capital projects and process improvement efforts across Davenport Works and Satellite locations. Due to the 24/7 manufacturing environment, working off-shift hours and/or weekends to support operations is expected although not always required. Responsibilities: * Manage large capital projects up to and in excess of $1MM in value, throughout Davenport and Satellite locations. Project management through funds approval and project completion. * Expert level knowledge of hydraulics, hydraulic systems, components and controls. * Manage complex capital projects, solve difficult equipment and process problems for Davenport and Satellite locations. * Advise/counsel on failure analysis; Participate in and lead problem solving teams, identification of root cause and solutions. Organize support from other resources. * Provide technical direction, leadership and review for large capital projects. * Relied upon by plant resources for advice, direction, and estimates for capital and process solutions. * Provide leadership, technical direction, installation support, commissioning support for execution of major capital projects and equipment outages. * Participate in and lead equipment development projects * Conduct technical assessments of individual pieces of equipment in advance of potential capital and process improvement solutions. * Maintain excellent working relationship with internal procurement resources, internal customers, external suppliers and plantwide resources to ensure capital project and process improvement needs are understood and met. * Provide knowledge base and advanced technical guidance to enable thorough understanding of the equipment and its effect on utilization, process and product quality. The successful incumbent will also provide technical solutions to recurring design, process and application problems. * Strong written and oral communications skills #LI-LC1 Qualifications Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution; * Minimum of 10 years' engineering experience; * Minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment; * Minimum of 5 years' experience in justifying, managing and installing large capital projects; * Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
