Sr. Mechanical Engineer: Direct Hire/Full-Time

Modis Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineering for a direct hire/perm role in the Cleveland Akron OH area.

The Sr. Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, testing, documentation, release, and maintenance of new and existing products. Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering along with at least 5 years of SolidWorks design experience.

This is a full time direct role with a growing global leader and manufacturer of automated systems and equipment.

Responsibilities include:

Create part and assembly drawings and generate detailed bill of materials (BOM)
Perform product research and recommend components to the Engineering Manager
Perform assembly operation and introduce variations and capture experimental data
Provide support to the production department by troubleshooting complicated issues and evaluating assembly documentation
Assemble and build prototypes to ensure design intent is met
Develop work instructions for production builds
Assist with the development of technical manuals for new and existing machines
Actively design new products and instruments
Complete medium to high level sustaining engineering tasks such as engineering change notices (ECNs)
Work in cross functional teams and provide technical support to other engineering groups, other departments, vendors, and customers
Perform finite element analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks
Compare computer analysis to actual experimental data to validate Software FEA model criteria
Research cost reduction ideas, evaluate feasibility, and propose ideas to the Engineering Manager
Actively participate in product alpha and beta testing, validation, and qualification
Provide customer support and support to field service as needed

Required Skills:

Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering required (BSME)
Minimum of 5 years of design experience with SolidWorks. 7+ years of Mechanical or Design Engineering experience preferred.
FEA/stress analysis and simulation programs experience
Automated machine or equipment design and automation systems preferred
Hands on machining experience is a plus
Familiarity with the rubber or plastic industry is a plus
Self-motivated, self-directed, good communication skills (written and oral), excellent teamwork skills
Desire to accept new challenges and learn new tasks to grow professionally

The individual will be assigned varied tasks with direction from a senior lead engineer. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, etc. Engineering degree, from an accredited college or equivalent education and experience. Course work should include basic Mechanical Engineering fundamentals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong interpersonal skills.
