General Overview

The Senior Specialist, Event Marketing drives strategy, planning and execution of marketing efforts behind signature Rotary International events created to raise public awareness and understanding of RI and its work. These include, Rotary's annual convention - which draws 30,000 - 50,000 attendees annually, our World Polio Day event, Rotary Day at the United Nations, and other existing or newly created events aimed to a broad internal or external audience.

You Will Have

  • Minimum bachelor's degree required
  • Advertising, Marketing, Communications focus preferred
  • Minimum 4-6 years of experience working in marketing and communication at an agency, or within a client side marketing environment (global marketing a plus)

  • Event marketing and communication experience, including integrated marketing management

  • Experience working with internal and external partners and agencies, managing content, creative, promotion and collateral development and production

  • Excellent organizational and planning skills-comfortable with multi-tasking

  • Ability to balance strategic and tactical priorities

  • Strong communication, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Cross-functional leadership skills, with proven ability to collaborate, motivate and inspire others

  • Solid project management skills, leading projects from development through execution

  • High comfort level working on complex and sometimes ambiguous tasks

You Will Be Responsible For

Event Marketing and Communication

  • Manages the development and implementation of the overall strategy for Rotary event marketing

  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the overall marketing strategy for business partners

  • Develops marketing plans to support signature events (International Convention, World Polio Day, Rotary Day at the UN, etc.) including messaging, communication, promotion

  • Serve as liaison to global network of volunteer planning committees responsible for supporting plans and goal setting for events

  • Serves as a point of contact for internal teams, agencies, partners, vendors, and others working on special events and programs for RI and is accountable for execution working across functions

  • Manages promotional campaigns to Rotary members, from creation through targeting, execution and monitoring

  • Identifies and pursue new opportunities to expand reach and increase participation in Rotary events

  • Ensures consistent, accurate and appropriate messaging across platforms, adhering to the event identity and brand standards

  • Shares marketing strategy, plans and program/event outcomes with senior leaders

Management and Measurement

  • Develops detailed project and creative briefs and manages RFP process

  • Serves in a project management capacity, developing and adhering to timelines and budgets, tracking deliverables and managing agencies and vendors

  • Collaborates with cross-functional counterparts in design, visual media, global communications, social media, etc. throughout planning and activation

  • Monitors reports to measure promotional campaign performance and improve effectiveness, and shares results with stakeholders

This position supports marketing activities including but not limited to sales enablement, lead generation activities (direct mail, digital marketing - e-mail, SEO/SEM, social media, events and webinars) and product/industry specific marketing communications to internal stakeholders and external audiences.  The Assistant Marketing Manager measures the effectiveness of campaigns using defined metrics to ensure the campaigns are optimally executed. The Assistant Marketing Manager must have the ability to work collaboratively and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.  Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is a must.  This position involves the ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on data and results analysis. Accountabilities: * Assist the marketing team in developing and executing marketing plans for brand, product or specialized areas, including research. * Support the development of segment positioning, messaging architecture, competitive assessments, customer segmentation, solution branding and brand equity. * Help with the execution of the marketing tactics. * Support segment marketing programs and rollouts to customers. * Align with sales managers, reps and related marketing functions (PR, direct to customer, show management, web) for program execution. * Support the development of a consistent testing cadence to increase marketing effectiveness. * Work with the Marketing team to make recommendations on marketing tactics to increase marketing's contribution to sales. * Collaborate with the search team to execute on the paid and organic search efforts, as well as monitor and report the results. MBA preferred. * Ability to review marketing analysis to uncover underlying drivers, assess potential impact and design metrics. * Ability to handle multiple projects with strong project management. * Ability to use contract management systems, CRM and other marketing databases, and the know how to leverage its functionality to maximize lead generation opportunities. * Experience in sales collateral creation and managing logistics of customer events. * Proficient in Microsoft Office suite. * Basic skills in analyzing data to inform strategic business decisions.
