The Senior Manufacturing Equipment Engineer will support, improve and develop new and existing production floor equipment and automation. This includes requirements generation and consultation, development of global fixture standards, engineering change control and equipment qualification, validation and installation. This role will also assist in designing and developing equipment with counterparts in Aachen, Germany facility. This is a salaried position, and primary working hours will be 8:00a - 5:00p. International travel up to 10% of the time may be required in this position.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Manufacturing Equipment Engineer:

  • Ensure smooth & continuous production capability through daily floor support, including the troubleshooting, repair and improvement of production fixtures, equipment and tooling.

  • Support the design of manual and semi-automated fixtures / equipment (various complexity levels) to meet production demand

  • Identify improvements for existing fixtures and equipment to optimize manufacturing processes and uptime

  • Develop global standards around user needs, requirements, qualification, calibration, maintenance, safety, spares and storage of production equipment, fixtures and tooling.

  • Review equipment drawings for completeness, inclusive of ISO standards, GD&T, and tolerance analysis

  • Initiate and manage improvement projects from start to finish (i.e., making the business case, development of the schedule and the budget, resource estimation and daily progress management)

  • Support the selection & development of fixtures, equipment and metrology with reproducibility and manufacturability in mind

  • Support Manufacturing Engineering in IQ/OQ/PQ of new and existing equipment and fixtures.

  • Suggest preventative maintenance (PM) requirements / changes to PM cycle for existing equipment

  • Create supporting documentation for equipment (work instructions, fixture specification, purchase specifications)

  • Present improvement concepts to key stake holders and cross-functional team members

  • Assist with Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) to support Manufacturing Engineering's deployment of equipment to Production

  • Primary working hours Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • 4 - 8 years of Manufacturing Equipment and / or Automation work experience

  • Working knowledge of sensing schemes and automation logic

  • Knowledgeable of FDA, QSR, ISO, GAMP5, and cGMP requirements

  • ISO/ANSI drafting standards knowledge

  • Knowledgeable about material selection, characteristics, and usage (for metals, plastics, and ceramics)

  • Able to work on problems requiring the exercise of considerable autonomy, judgment, and expertise

  • Able to communicate clearly, effectively, frequently.

  • Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a timely manner with general supervision

  • Basic knowledge in machine shop, metrology, and tool usage

  • Hands-on approach to fulfilling job responsibilities

  • Technical Skills Required: MS Office, Solidworks Willingness and ability to travel internationally up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automation design and deployment experience strongly preferred

  • SAP experience desired

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt preferred

  • GD&T knowledge desired
